UltraGuest vs Atabook

Atabook and UltraGuest are both free guestbook services that host the guestbook as a page on their own servers. Atabook is the newer of the two: its site carries a copyright line from 2024, and a thread on the 32-Bit Cafe forum from May 2024 describes its release as a response to the closure of 123Guestbook. UltraGuest has hosted guestbooks since 2003. What they have in common

Both are free. Both give you a guestbook at the service's own address that you link to. Both can hold new messages for review, let you edit or delete any message, block IP addresses, e-mail you about new messages and let you delete your own account. Neither shows advertising today: UltraGuest has none, and Atabook's features page says it shows none right now, with a "no ads guarantee" among the benefits of its paid Supporter plan.

Which one is for you?

If you want to reply to messages with an e-mail to the guest, ask custom questions, offer a formatting toolbar, import messages from a previous service or have a short address of your own, Atabook lists all of those, and its no-ads guarantee, custom CSS, your own domain and several guestbooks come with its Supporter plan. If you want no advertising on any account, custom CSS included, plain text messages that cannot carry links, an export of everything at any time and a track record going back to 2003, that is UltraGuest.
