MessageI did not know Nick, but I do know what it is like to lose a son, father and brother. My son died at 35 and even though it has been nine years we still think of him often and cherish his memory. To Nick's parents, his wife and children my deepest sympathy.

MessageWe remember Nick as a quiet boy whom we'd see when visiting with his family. Over the years the thin blond boy with a tuba turned into a grown man with a wife and two kids and a successful career and a passion for cycling. I recall him as the best man at Tony and Julie's wedding. That was a lovely event with all the Venutos together.
We are so very sorry for your loss.

MessageDear Deborah,
My name is Debi Fieri and my friend, Karen Clark, went to high school with Nick. My first husband - late husband - Greg Ewing, was an avid cyclist like your husband. He was killed instantly on his morning commute to work in May of 2004 when a car turned into the bike lane and into his path. At the time, our children were three and five. I know Karen will contact you and offer you my address, email or cell phone number, but I wanted to echo my willingness to speak with you at anytime. My prayers go out to you and your children, as well as your extended families. I wish I could take away the pain of this tragedy, but if it helps to speak to someone later who has "survived and thrived" please contact me without hesitation. Debi Fieri ewingfieri@cox.net

MessageWhen I first heard of Nick's passing I remembered his name but couldn't place the person. I was told that we rode the same "Ride Across California". Still couldn't place him. After seeing his picture I was immeadiatly saddened. I remember Nick'a absolute dedication to his son on that ride. We talked cycling, as we were both members of the California Triple Crown riders. What impressed me so much was that even though he was an avid cyclist what meant more to him was his time with his son. We didn't interact much but I remember admiring him very much.

MessageNick was a wonerful friend and neighbor. He always thought about the other person. When my girls were young and had a lemonade stand, he would always come over to buy lemonade. He had the kindest eyes. I saw him pretty much every day while walking my daughter school. He was always so friendly. My husband and I will truly miss him. In talking with him, I could tell that what was most important to him was his love for Deb, Nicolas and Marissa. He was so very proud of them. I remember him telling me all about his long distance bike ride with Nicolas. He just beamed. It is so very difficult to believe he is gone. I am so very sorry. He will be missed.

MessageDeborah --- My heart goes out to you and your family, escpecially you and your children. There are no words for such an unexpected and sudden tragedy. Stay strong, remember to take care of you~ Time is a healing factor.... although sometimes one can never forget let alone 'get over' what has been taken from you... may your heart, mind and soul find in time, some comfort in the legacy Nick leaves you. Through all the memories and pictures both in print and in mind... may they leave your heart and face with a smile ~ every time you think of him. My deepest sympathies to you in this difficult time.
