MessageI feel like I know Nick from my rides with his Dad on the veloway in Austin, Tx. I remember the pride in Nick's voice when he talked about his son and his family. It's obvious that Nick was special in so many ways, and his family and many friends will cherish their memory of him. Heartfelt symapathy to you all.

MessageI could not believe when I heard this news. I used to work for Nick at Nanogen. Although, I did not report directly to him, but he was very supportive. I learned alot from him. He was such a kind, intelligent and loving family man. My deepest sympathies go to his wife Deb, and his children.

MessageI didn't know Nick very well really, but I did have the pleasure of working with Nick at a startup company, Graviton, years ago. Although the company failed, I remember Nick as a very likable guy. I am a cyclist as well and also live in Poway now, so it is very likely that I rode with Nick on local rodes without really knowing it. Cyclist don't spend much time with introductions on the road, but we do remember certain things about another rider like his bike or his jersey. The news of the accident spread very quickly through my contacts, but at the time we didn't know who was involved. Later in the day I received a call from a co-worker, Joe Bayer, and he asked me if I knew Nick Venuto. My heart sank because Joe and I had never discussed Nick before and I instantly knew that the rider killed was Nick. As I looked over the photos I am inspired to spend more quality time with my family as it is clear that Nick adored his family and in turn his family adored him. I only wish that Nick and I could have become closer, but I will meet Nick in heaven one day ...

MessageI have had the pleasure of meeting Nick and his family at my bike shop in Poway. It was always a pleasure dealing with Nick because he liked to ride nice bikes and ride he did. He was not only a customer but a friend. He was very close with a former employee by the name of John Bittinger.

My heart is so saddened by this sudden loss. I pray that Deb and the kids are surrounded by family and friends who can give a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen and big wide arms to hug with.

May God comfort you in this time of grief.

God Bless,

Tim Gill

MessageMy memories of Nick go back to our days with Ernst & Young. Always hard-working and dedicated, the impression Nick left was one of a kind-hearted, gentle person, intelligent and humorous. We worked in different fields, but any interaction with Nick was always gifted with his kind smile and that noted quiet confidence.
Later in life, I re-met Nick through my friendship with his lovely wife Deb. It was a joy to see this side of his life, a dedicated father and loving husband. Nick was a fine example for all of our young boys to look up to. Last I spoke with Deb she was so very excited as Nick had entered an industry that he had a true passion for. I was excited too for the Venuto family. Nick touched many with his kindness and will always be remembered.
Deb and Venuto family, we are so heartbroken over your loss. Words cannot convey our sorrow but please know you are in our prayers and we are here for you, anytime, anything. ~ esther
