| Message | Greetings, I was doing a Google search and came across your site regarding Yokosuka Orphanage. I was adopted in 1951 in Yokohama.......perhaps at this orphanage.....unless there were others in Yokohama in the early '50s. My dad was stationed at Camp McGill as part of the occupation forces. I don't have much info other than a bunch of Japanese adoption papers written on rice paper in a document holder. Since my mom and dad are now both deceased, I'm not able to fill in large gaps of my life early on. I'm 57 and sometimes think of my birth parents; who they were, if they're dead, if I'm the product of a mixed liason between a serviceman and a Japanese woman. Lots of questions, no answers, but it was interesting finding your site and seeing some pics. Do you know when most were taken? BTW, my wife and I are planning a trip to Tokyo in the spring of 2010. I intend to take my papers with me and have them translated, in hopes of filling in some of the aforementioned gaps. I also intend to visit the orphanage if it's still in operation. Sincerely, Bill Ashley I can be reached by contacting Wayne Dorough (dorwgd@cox.net) |
