Message | I received an email this afternoon from Danielle Crowe at email: [email protected] regarding her father's service on the Spangler in the 1940's I'm adding it here to make sure I have the information later. The website from Ted Smith is very interesting. I checked Daddy's pictures and did not find him in any. I really don't have many pictures and most of them are of the guys clowning around as guys will do. I also don't know what group he was in. He used to talk about fire control. He lost hearing in one ear due to nerve damage from the noise of the gun.Daddy's given name was WT Reese ( hometown Newnan,Georgia) but when he joined the navy he was told that initials are not a name and he had to have a name to join, so he took his Dad's name. From that day he was known as William Tuscan Reese,II. Family and friends called him Dub and some of his navy pals called him Randy. Of course there is a story behind both. |
