| Message | I was Susie Jones in 1978 based at KI Sawyer AFB. I was a dental tech. I lived in the barraks that housed ladies and TDY (in the basement). I remember Susan Maata, Oline Thacker, Karen Barnhardt among others. I had my ups and downs there but it was a beautiful area and I stayed in Marquette for several years before moving away. I returned to college and graduated with a BS in Communications. I now work for the State of Texas.  |

| Message | I was stationed at K.I. Sawyer from 1979 to 1982 (the last four years of my first 6-year enlistment). There were a lot of great things about K.I. Sawyer AFB, in my opinion, but among the people I worked with, it was quite clear that many colleagues did not agree with that opinion. Most of the people I worked with hated it there and hated their job. Since I felt exactly the opposite, it didn't make me a very popular person among my co-workers (believe it or not, I actually got some death threats and since we were all armed to the teeth (I myself often carried an M60 as part of my duties), it made those threats very real. On the other hand, one of the best things about my time there was two people I had the great honor to meet when I was there (hence my reason for this message; I'm looking for the). One was a doctor at the base hospital named Sue Hole (she was an LT at the time). She was married to another doctor at the base hospital, also last name of Hole. The other was a clerk/typist named Sue Dennis (she was an A1C at the time)and she was the most incredible woman I've ever known. She was my first "real love." She worked as a clerk/typist for either the refueling squadron, the bomber squadron, or the F/I squadron. Of anyone knows the whereabouts of either of these two woman, please contact me, as I'd like to find out what has become of them. |

| Message | Stationed AT K.I mid 1970 to Oct 72 when I got out. Was a tin nocker for the 410 FMS. Great memories of a great base. There were 4 of us living in a rented house in Gwinn, remember having to crawl out the window because the snow was so deep after a storm! I am planning to visit the museum soon. Thanks for keeping a great memory alive. |

| Message | We (SSgt Michael Hawks and SrA Jacki Hoffman) were stationed at KIS 1991-1995 with the 410th Medical Group. We just returned from a trip to the base and enjoyed it. We were married at KIS and had our first daughter there as well. Almost 20 years has gone by since its closure and the area is slowly coming back. We enjoyed stopping into the Museum and looking at past artifacts. There is not one item from the 410th Medical Group in the museum, that was suprising and sad. We became members of the Heritage Air Museum to hopefully give back to an area that gave lots to us. I plan on donating a "white" USAF medical uniform to display, as well as, sending them a couple of the 410MG patches. Heritage is so important in keeping the legacy and memories alive. A gift of $30.00 and becoming a member is a little price for such an important tribute. |

| Message | I WAS STATIONED AT KI SAWYER FROM JUNE 1979-Sept 1981, 410th SPS. I live in Elysburg,Pa and I always wanted to get back up to KI and tour the UP again. I miss the Pasties and Smelt dinners and the fantastic outdoor activities of the UP. Attended NMU while I was Stationed there. Go Wildcats! |

| Message | I served at KI Sawyer from 1958-1959 (?) when I left for Saint Lawrence Island, Alaska. While at KI I worked as a mechanic on aircraft refueling units. I was TDY at KI if I remember correctly as there were extending the runways at Kinross in Sault, Saint Marie. Great memories of a great base. I believe my quarters were directly across from the church which I attended at times (but not as much as I should have). The quarters were brand new at the time I moved in. A few years ago we had a reunion at Kinross and my wife and I toured KI on the way back from Kinross.
