MessageStationed at KI Sawyer 71'-72'- 73'. I was assigned to the 410th Bomb Wg. Worked in Hq Bldg as a Admin Spec, Flt Scheduling
Looking back at it now it was a great experience. I got married while stationed there and our daughter was born there.
We were from Wis, we were somewhat used to the weather, maybe not as much snow. Remember the round orange styrofoam balls we had to put on our car antennas, to make it easy to spot a car at a intersection??

MessageThis North Carolina Tarheel had a cold awaking when I stepped off the plane at Marquette Airport and there was still snow piled up and this was May 1970. I grew to like the place and became accustomed to the snow. The local UPers were great people to be around and were always willing to help you out. I lived in a house on Presque Isle and it had a beautiful view of part of Lake Superior. I was in AGE of the 410th FMS and enjoyed being on the flight line with B52s and KC135s. Sac was the best duty as I later found out when I was shipped out to Thailand. Thanks Marquette for some terrific memories.

MessageExcept for the cold I had a great tour at KI; from January 1969 through December 1969. I belonged to the Security Police Squadron while there. I have fond memories of the pizza place in Negaunee just around the corner from the base. I spent some time in both the security and police units.
