| Message | My father served on K.I. and I as a young boy also run free on the base as boys would do. I was their from my memories from 1976- 1980. I was 6 when we left. I so wish I could return to the base housing and revisit the blueberry patches that I used to frequent. Dad (Mike Greene)passed away in may of 2012. He was a true dedicated american! I think the closing of the base hit him hard. He continued service with the Indiana air national guard until his passing. God bless! |

| Message | Hi...My father was a boom operator and flew in the KC135 Stratotanker refuling planes over Vietnam, Thialand, etc. during the Vietnam war in the late 60's and was based in KI Sawyer. He retired in 1970 from that base after 20 years in the Air Force as a Master Sargent. I have fond memories of working as a candy striper in the hospital on base as a teenager. He now lives in Florida. |
