MessageDear Jeff and Pam,
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Daniel. I can't imagine what you are going through. Having two sons myself who knew Daniel makes me remind myself that each day is a gift. My youngest son, Andy, shaved his head his freshman year in respect for Daniel as many wrestlers did. My oldest wore and I believe is still wearing the blue wrist band with Daniel's name on it. Prayers were said by all of our church family and will continue to be in prayer for your family. I had Pam as my math teacher my senior year of high school and remember what a wonderful person she was. No one deserves this tragedy. Daniel left something for all of us to learn. His courage and strength was admired by many. Please know you are all in my prayers. Holly Harlow is my step sister in law and our whole family knew about Daniel. Grace and Peace be to you and may the Love of God be felt in your hearts.
The Dunn Family,
Annette, Bill, Joey, Andy, and Ashley

MessageDear Mercer family,

I am so very sorry to hear about the passing of your wonderful son Daniel. My heart aches for all of you. I don't know Daniel personally but was on the web daily checking for updates & saying lots of prayers for your amazing son. I just lost my niece 5 weeks ago today to cancer. She was the librarian at Center Grove Elementary. Cancer....what a horrible disease. I wish that doctors could find a cure. I will be praying for you daily that God you strength. God bless all of you during this difficult time. God will guide you & see you through.

MessageI am very sorry to hear about the death of your amazing son. I didn't know him, but with what I have heard, he was an amazing kid. Eventhough he is now in heaven, he has touched so many lives its unreal. He has showed the true meaning of life for everyone around him, and with that, he will never be forgotten.

MessageJeff,

My name is Kim Yates. My husband is Ralph and our two sons are Ryan and Greg. For many years we brought Ryan to you for hitting lessons. It is because of your patience, guidance and encouragement that Ryan had many successful years as a baseball player. Both of the boys participated in your Saturday baseball camps in the park in Franklin. I remember that no matter how busy you were with all the boys you were instructing, you always took time to stop and give the boys another great pointer. What I also remember is what a great Dad you are. I only met Daniel briefly, but I could tell how close you both were. I have been following Daniel's progress during his illness and I was deeply saddened by the news of his passing. Both of our boys are close to Daniel's age,so it especially hit me how fragile life can be. There is nothing I can say to lessen your grief, but you are right that it is important to remember the joy that he brought to you and your family in his short time here. While reading your journal over the last 18 months, I feel like I have come to know Daniel and I found myself constantly cheering him on when he would take a step forward and saddened when he would take a step back. I have really learned to admire him. Our family is praying for you and your family during this difficult time. While we are sad, heaven is rejoicing because they just welcomed a new angel in the fold. God Bless.

MessageI do not know why God has decided to call Dan back to his flock. In the past few days it has been a great time of reflection and has given me a greater appreciation for life and all that is really important. I truly believe God selected Dan to make all of us really appreciate the important things in life. I will never forget the last good conversation I had with Dan...in Donatos pizza with all the little 10/11 year old travel baseball kids. We just sat and talked about life and of course hunting and fishing. I told Dan when he felt better I wanted to take him out on the boat and tear some bass up. He thought that sounded like a great idea...Monday I was fishing early in the morning when I "got the call." The first thing that came to me was that conversation I had with him that night at Donatos and how we were going to fish. It is so ironic how God works. Everyone in our family will truly, truly miss you Dan. I still cannot believe you are gone. You showed everyone how to fight the good fight and to live with style and grace. Your personality was infectious and you taught everyone around you how to appreciate life. Look out after your little brothers and, of course, the big one too. God's Peace Dan.
