MessageWe are praying for support & strength for your family in this time of missing Daniel. We have been following Daniel's story because our 8 year old daughter, Christina died in 2000 with the ependymona brain tumor. Christina also had Dr. Turner at Methodist Hospital when she was first diagnoised. It is a terrible cancer. I know Daniel is in no pain in Heaven and has probably meet our daughter! I think kids with cancer are very special children that we were blessed to have in our lives! We are having a lemonade stand on this Saturday to raise money for childhood cancer research! We got the idea off the Alex's lemonade stand website! I am going to display Daniel's picture & article from the paper at our stand along with my daughter's picture! Take care and take one day at time and remember that Daniel would want you to keep going so he will see you in Heaven one day soon!
Our prayers are with your family.

MessageI didn't know Daniel. I had Mrs. Mercer for math at Whiteland HS. She was always very good to me, as I struggled with math. I never left Whiteland, and surprisingly, I didn't know Daniel was sick. I've spent the last several hours reading Jeff's entries. I'm deeply saddened for your family but encouraged to know that the love that is ever apparent will guide you to the place you need to be to mourn. I will pray for your family and for the soul of Daniel. My heart is heavy for you today. I hope that you keep your faith strong. Daniel was blessed to have such a wonderful family and you were lucky to have him.

God bless you and yours,
Melanie Wilson and family

MessageWhat a precious celebration of Daniel's life. I'm sorry we didn't get through the line in time to speak to you in person and express our most sincere sympathy. Thank you for sharing Daniel with us. I knew the Mercer family was special when I met the Mercer boys at Hopewell. I have two really sweet memories of Daniel that I want to share with you. . .I was sharing the library with the music teacher due to our lack of space. My very first memory of Daniel was during Daniel's 3rd grade music class, I was sitting at my desk trying to get some work done. The class was singing and I heard this very loud voice singing above all others. Not only was he singing louding and totally focused, but he was so OFF KEY! I looked up and saw this adorable little freckle faced boy singing so monotone and it was your Daniel. It just made my spirit smile! Another time during library I was talking about how important it is to study hard and give school your best, go to college when you're young and not to wait until you get older etc. I mentioned that my husband was in college. Daniel looked up at me and was so serious and said, "Is your husband a teenager?" I laughed and laughed. Thank you for blessing our lives with all four of the Mercer boys!! They are all truly wonderful young men! Jeff, Joey, and Anthony you are the best brothers Daniel could have asked for! God Bless you all and may you always find comfort in knowing what a difference you make in the lives of others.

MessageDear Jeff & Pam - Paul, Grace, Kirby, Robin, Gina and Sydney send their heartfelt sympathy to your family. We just spent some time looking over the emails Jeff posted regarding Dan's progress over the last year and a half. That was so thoughful of him to do that. You two are awesome parents! We have been laughing about all of the silly things that Dan and Kirby used to do when they played on the Bulls together. You never knew what either of them would do next. We are thankful that we knew Dan and his family. We will keep you and your family in our thoughts and prayers. Peace -The Dunagan's and The Meyer's

MessageI just talked with Grandma Martha before school was out - she is so proud of her family and the community you live in - she should be! I am so sorry to hear that Daniel has lost his battle - he was blessed with a wonderful family and a community in Versailles that will keep him in their hearts. Our memorial will go to the South Ripley Class Room Teachers Association so that our communities will be foever joined!

MessageI came across the tribute to Daniel while I did a google search for FCHS looking for something else. His story is both sad and encouraging. How proud you must be of him!

I gratuated FCHS in 1962.
