MessageI started writting this at about 8:30 pm June 3, 2006. At 9:30 I have erased and rewritten this a dozen times. Its hard to find words that could even come close to comforting your family. I've searched the web to help find words to express my sorrow. I have looked at poems and songs, nothing seems to work here. I know everyone says that they have your family in their prayers, and even though I do and I always will, I want to say something even more then that. Something that no one has said. By this time things become repeated. There is nothing stronger or more beautiful then the bond of family. From personal situations in my life I know that talking to and being around family was the best thing to help me with hard times. I want to leave you with a few quotes I have read.
"If we are loved and remembered, then we live on forever in the hearts of those who love us."
-- Ted Menten
And yes, Gary Allan was right when he said, "Life aint always beautiful, but its a beautiful ride."
From my family to yours, GOD BLESS!

MessageAlthough I did not learn of Daniel and his illness until after he passed, I am inspired by the blog entries. I feel as if I would laugh or cry sometimes at the same time. I cannot imagine what your family has gone thru for the last 18 months. May God Bless your family and know that Daniel is in heaven watching over all of you.

MessageMercers:
We have been following your journey, and have been praying for your family. We are so deeply sorry for Dan's passing. We are also so in awe of what an amazing family you have. In the depths of sorrow, your entire family conducted itself with dignity, grace, and a sense of closeness that few families have. God Bless the amazing kid you raised, and God bless his amazing life. You truly raised an angel!
With much love, sympathy, and support,
Bob, Claudia, Ian and Meredith Braman

MessageI attended Daniel's funeral today.......what a glorious celebration of his life. The eulogy by Jeff was a tear jerker. You could feel how much love and admiration he had for his brother. In this day and age that is very welcome. I have to credit his parents for instilling this in him. It was also nice to hear Jeff call his Dad a great man. May God bless all of you. It was a privilege to attend Daniel's funeral. My grandson Isaiah was built to play sports even at 3 months. I hope Daniel is in Heaven giving him lessons.

MessageDear Mercer Family,
We are all saddened to hear of the loss of young Daniel and wish to extend our deepest sympathies. We have followed your family’s journey through these trying times and the character with which your family has conducted themselves is truly astounding. Jeff, I have had the privilege of working for you and with Jeffery and although I did not really know Daniel, the amount of time I spent with the two of you leaves no doubt in my mind the type of individual he was. When I was coaching, it always amazed me how you and Pam were able to raise this family of boys, have them in multiple activities, always be on time, and have such well behaved children. As a parent now, the aforementioned things blow my mind. Pam, I'm sure much of that is an attest to your strength. When your family came to town you came into a tough situation. Many viewed you as outsiders and were unsure of the decision to bring you in as the coach. Let me just say what a blessing it is to have your family as a part of this community. Your family represents all that is good in the world. This community is not only a better place for having had Daniel, but for having your whole family. The selflessness of your family for sharing your's and Daniel's story is admirable and will not be forgotten. Daniel has gone onto a better place and may we all cherish each and every day until we may walk with him.
God Bless Your Family

Dustin, Whitney, Stone and Brooklyn
