MessageDear Venuto Family,

My 3 little boys and I were traveling on highway 56 right when your dear Nick was taken from us. You do not know us, but please know that we share your pain. We travel by that spot every morning and night on our way to and from work and school, and we mention your family daily in our thoughts and prayers as we drive by. Please know you are never alone in your suffering. With sincerity, Leah Kent and family

MessageI worked with Nick at Nanogen for 3 years. He headed our finance and I worked in legal. We worked on projects together often. I always enjoyed working with him or just talking to him about our lives and families; we were the same age and we had a lot in common. Nick seemed to enjoy talking about his family, and it was apparent to me that he cherished his wife and kids and that he loved his life, especially his home life. Smart, kind, honest, and extremely reliable, he was the perfect comrade at work, and I wish I had spent more time with Nick and his family outside of work. Nick's untimely passing is a jolting reminder that I need to spend more time with the people I really like and respect.

MessageA few times I was able to ride on Sunday mornings with Nick. One story that comes to mind was how much he enjoyed riding with his son across the Imperial Valley over the San Diego County mountains back to San Diego during Spring Break. Listening to him made me jealous that I never did that with my son.

Best Regards,
The Gibbons Family

MessageNick was a great person, a devoted family man, an excellent cyclist, and a good friend. I'll always remember the bike rides and conversations I had with Nick. I feel honored to have shared two of Nick's three Triple Crown Double Centuries with him. My sincere condolences go to Nick's family, particularly Deb and the kids.

MessageNick worked with me on the executive team at Nanogen. He was an intelligent and hard-working individual, and always had a smile on his face. I was always impressed with his commuting to work on his bicycle.

My deepest sympathies to Deb, Nicholas, Marisa, parents, and extended family and friends.

MessageTo the Venuto Family,
I worked with Nick when he started at KL and later at E&Y. I remember talking to him at the E&Y holiday reception and thinking what a pro Nick has become in so many ways. As a number of people said last night at the viewing, Nick was a gentleman; always greeting others with that smile and an easy-going air of quiet confidence. It is easy to see where he got that from. You have a wonderful family. Nick was everything a good man aspires to be. He led a good life and we are all better for having known him. My heart goes out to your family during this difficult time.

MessageI met Nick at USD, a fellow accounting major. Along with another friend, Heidi, the three of us back packed through Europe together as a graduation gift to ourselves in the summer of 1992. What a trip with so many memories. As I did not remain in San Diego, Nick and I had lost contact over the years. Heidi, was nice enough, to let me know about this tragic turn of events. My heart goes out to Nick's family and I am keeping you all in my prayers.

MessageI had the pleasure of knowing Nick in my career on a few occasions and was only recently reconnected to him a couple months ago. While I did not know Nick very well, we have mutual friends in common. Nick is a great man and my heart and my family's heart goes out to Nick and his family. I know that Nick is a great human being, husband, father and family man. I will miss this great person.

Scot
