MessageMy father, [then] Cmdr. Seldon Dunn, MC, was Senior Medical Officer on the Randolph from summer 1961 to summer 1963. I have uploaded a photo of the medical team debriefing [then] Major John Glenn, Jr. after his orbital flight on 20 Feb. 1962 on Wikipedia --

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Randolph_(CV-15)

My father's quarters was one of the compartments which was heavily damaged by the collision later in the year, though luckily for him, he was not in the compartment at that time.

He had earlier been on a sister ship, the USS Boxer, and later was again Senior Medical Officer on the Kittyhawk. But I thi8nk he considered the Randolph his favourite, especially during the Med cruise in the summer of 1962.

MessageMy father, Raymond L Price, Jr (Ray) was on the Randolph in 1957. I know he came home for my birth late that year and had to return to the ship briefly, before coming home for good to SC. Dad was originally from TN.

He spend a good bit of time in the Mediterranean and may have been involved in some cross-border covert ops in the area of Albania. I lost him to lung cancer in July of 1991. While dad had smoked most of his life, I remember hearing conjecture that exposure to asbestos in the Navy may have been a contributing factor.

I would be glad to hear from any of his shipmates and hear any stories they may have to tell about him. I never realized just how rich a history this fine old carrier had until I began to read up on it, recently.

God bless you all!

Ray Price, III
