MessageI am a proud member of the recommissioning crew that served aboard this fine ship,in 1953. I was an Electrician's Mate in E Dvision. She was a great ship and we had a fine crew with a very well respected skipper. All my memories of time spent aboard her were great. Good shipmates, great food and above average moral.

She was a lovely lady that sailed the sea and kept the world safe.

MessageI was serving on H.M.S.Salisbury(frigate) in 1958 and operating in the Agean sea when we were requested to search for a downed S2F Tracker Aircraft off the U.S.S. Randolph. It was in formation at low level with, I think, 2 others when it went in for no apparent reason. We reached the site and found floating wreckage and located the aircraft on the bottom, there were no survivors and our divers recovered 3 bodies which we took onboard and on return to Cyprus repatriated to the 'Randolph.' A few weeks later we recieved a very grateful letter from the parent(s)Thanking us for our efforts and action. What I am trying to do is, if possible find out their names as after all these years my memory is not what it used to be.I would like to also say that during my service I was fortunate enough to work with U.S. forces, and was proud to do so. As we Brits like to say"Power to your elbows"
