MessageMy dad Joe, served on the Randolph at her inception. He was on her shakedown cruise and served in the communications room as a petty officer until WWII ended.

I have an awesome scrapbook (including Christmas mess menus) and letters to my mother that he wrote from the ship, telling her about the Randolph's missions (with no details as they were top secret at the time of his writing).

Of note, my father spotted an approaching Japanese sub and was awarded a medal and a plaque on deck. As a kid, I always enjoyed the stories he told about life on board.

MessageMy Dad John A "Jack" Carroll served on the Randolph as a radioman shortly after the war ended and was on the Randolph during a cruise in the Mediterranean and spent time in Naples during that cruise. When he told us about his tour he always sounded very nostalgic about those times and men he served with. Dad passed away in 1995 and seeing this page makes me miss him all the more. He would have loved these pages!
