| Message | I am the son of Jimmie VanHorn SA/SN who served on the Spangler '54/'56. I lost my dad in June of 2004. I loved to hear stories of his service when I was a kid. I search the net all the time to find info on the ship he served on. This is by far the best website. I only wish he could have made one of the reunions before the cancer got him. He was very proud of the ship and those he served with, this he told me numerous times. Personally, I think there is no greater American than those who served there country in the armed forces. You all are heroes to me. I thank you all for your love of this still great country. You made it that way. Take care and God bless all of you. |

| Message | Hi, Everybody! I am looking forward to the Branson reunion. Iwas was at Lee's Summit, MO for a family reunion last weekend. Msg to Jim Howard. Thank you for your update on Burt Huls. I am hopeful that you will be in Branson. Msg to Canice Bailey. Some us know Roy T. Gray or did know in '52 or so. One time Roy T. left his food at a table I was leaving as Roy T. went back to get his silverware. While he was gone, someone at the table loaded his steak with Tabasco. He left right after and was fuming. I do not know who put the tabasco on his steak. ut it caused some excitement. [email protected] |

| Message | Hello to everyone.. My dad, James T Taylor, served aboard the Spangler (53-?), came aboard around 12/1953 according to the crew list. I have a photo of him somewhere with the ship in the background.. trying to find it..Just wondering if anybody knew him, or had any more info? Glad to see a site like this up and running. | Message | For those of you that served during Capt. Laws command remember Lt BurtW Huls, he was at first the operations officer and later was the Exec. He lives in Dallas Tx and is in a nursing home in poor health. I wa in Dallas last year and had a great visit with him. Remember hin in your thoughts and prayers, he was one of the good ones. |

| Message | I've been trying to locate an old shipmate named Joe Achee, I've had no luck at all.He was still on the ship when I left in Sept. of '57. I know he was from Louisiana and I'm told that there are tons of Achees there. I f anyone can help me out I would really appreciate it. I love the site more every day. |
