MessageStationed at KI from 1985-1988 some of the best days of my career were spent working in the WSA as an AMMO troop. Seemed we were always busy but still had fun. Met my wife at KI and my daughter was born at the base hospital in 1988.

MessageA big howdy to Lani Duquette and Abe Lincoln. I was in the weather detachment at K. I. from 1986 to 1990. Miss the great steelhead fishing, but not the snow. Would love to hear from other "yoopers" I knew there. Jack Gentle

MessageI love this site and with the help of Lani Douquette we will be updating the web site soon.

I was stationed at K.I. Sawyer most of my career and I am now building a new house just north of the base in Sands. I plan on being here for a long time to come and hope to get more involved with the old base as time permits. Please visit the site often and see the changes as they occur.

MessageJust found this web site and it brings back alot of old forgotten memories. I was there 87-94 hydraulics on the 135. Some of the best people i have worked with to this day. I visited in mar 06 and was suprised the place was still basically the same. Great site!

MessageSpent a few very chilly years at KI ... 1990 thru 1993 as commanding officer of the Navy's NAVCOMMUNIT Marquette, overseeing the ELF transmitters at Republic, MI and Clam Lake, WI. Still remember leaving the base for the last time in late May 1993 and there were still piles of snow in the parking lots on the base!
