MessageWas stationed at KI from 1986-1993. Was a Air Traffic Controller in the tower..and was on duty the night the B-52 crashed..in 88 I think it was.

Enjoyed my tour there, but was glad to hand in my rather large snow shovel and AF issue winter boots and park!

Had some great parties and my house there on US 41. I had a roommate that was a boom operator (Hooch).

Miss all of the tanker and bomber friends I made, especially the pilots I worked doing pattern work.

Live in Washington DC area now. Work for the federal govt.

MessageJust found this site, it's awesome. I was at Sawyer 1972-1975, 410th SPS. Would love to hear from some of the guys. Tony Genovese was our dispatch at CSC. I was gone a short time due to operation Bullet Shot to Guam.

MessageHello all. I'm hoping perhaps someone can help me out. Served @ KI Sawyer from 1984 to 1991. Problem is this - in 2005 had a house fire & lost my "blues" & BDU uniforms. Was hoping to get some information on how I might replace them, from the beret to the boots, with all ribbons, medals, etc.

Feel free to email me or leave a message here!

Thanks!

MessageRE: 2006-09-12 guest book entry:Elliot Klemens-I googled the "wonder hut" at Sawyer and saw your msg. I am doing research for a friend about the wonder hut- he worked on it too! Probably knew your dad.
Anyone with photos of this building, inside or out may contact me. My research is to surprise a friend in his honor, he played a major role in the building of this facility. I am very interested in anyone who participated in its creation.

MessageI was born on KI in '72. I also just returned today from a trip to the base with mixed emotions. i hate using the word decay, but it seems that's the way everyone describes my birth place these days.

why are we letting this beautiful place go to shit?...why cant we use this place for helping hard working americans, or wounded veterans?....instead of drug dealing rednecks?

-just a question.

is there any hope?
