MessageMy father is m/sgt L.C."Chuck" Forester. He was a boomer at K.I. Sawyer from 1965-67 before we transferred back to Barksdale. We lived on Fury Street and I attended Gwinn HS. Met a lot of good people and had fun doing it. I would like to make contact again with fellow brat and Texan Mark Adams or anyone else who remembers us. Dad is still active and would like to hear from old friends too. The class of '69 is who I grew up with. The wife and I want to drive up and visit the UP sometime from our home in Lockhart, Texas. I will continue to check this site and support the museum. Keep up the good work.......Bruce Forester.

MessageHi everyone. I am presently the President of the museum and the word right now is that we need help in the areas of funding and volunteers. We had to move our museum and the new building requires a lot of work, i.e. heat repair, ADA compliance, some plumbing work. All of this is costly but the building has great potential, lots of room and a very nice auditorium. Great for the community. But it won't happen unless we get help. We would like to purchase the building and then do the necessary repairs to the building. By owning it we become eligible for additional funding.
Thanks.

MessageI served with the 410th SPS from 1972 through 1973. K.I. Sawyer was my 1st base and I have very fond memories of the entire area. One the best assignments I think. i am thankful that this site exists.

MessageI was stationed at K.I. for 9 years. I was in the 410th SPS. I had some of the most wonderful times of my life there. It was one of the most beautiful areas I've ever lived in. I made some fantastic friends and worked with the greatest group of troops a man has ever had the privilege, honor, and pride to work with and to lead. I came there as an A1C and left there a staff sergeant. I reminisce many times about some of those good old days and wonder what has happened to some of those folks I called friends. If I had the chance to do it all again, I wouldn't change a thing.

MessageStationed at KI from 1981 to 1986. Assigned to the 410th AMS, Autopilot Shop.

Loved the UP - got hooked on hunting and fishing. Missed the simple live this assignment had to offer, sorry to see the base closed.

Both of my boys are UP'ers. Retired in 1999, but continued to serve as a contractor at Warner Robins ALC and now Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. Throughout my career I continue to come across people I served with a KI. Yah, you bet ya.
