| Message | Hello All I was at KI sawyer from 76 - 78 working in the 410 FMS at the jet engine test cell. Had a blast great memories. Got to ride along on refueling missions, that was an experience of a lifetime. Made some good friends there. I was through the base about 6 years ago, rode around through housing and went to visit the test cell. All of the building are different business now and there is Sawyer International airport. They built a very nice terminal building. The big concrete blast fence is still up behind the old test cell. I remember one time the base commander called the test cell and told us to shut that damn engine off, he was trying to have a meeting. We were probably running a J-57 with full water. |

| Message | I was stationed at KI Sawyer from 1987-1989 with the 410th FMS. I was a Crew Chief assigned to the KC-135 Tanker Phase dock as an aircraft inspector. Most memorable moments; the B 52 Crash, when the "New" ALCM hanger was built, Painting the nose dock floor glossy white, the heating plant being converted to wood chip burning, Desert Shield build up, great hunting, four wheeling, cold, Snow, and a 50 Mile round trip to McDonalds. |

| Message | I was Staioned at K.I. Sawyer deom Dec 1980 to Mar 1985. I was an Egress troop (SAC)assigned to the Egress shop. We shared the same hanger with R&R (Repair and Reclamation. We had brutal winters as all of you know, and one pretty hot summer. We had record lows in the winter of 84-85 and record hot for the summer (around 100F for thw summer of 83). It was the most beautiful and clean place I've ever been in my whole life. The friends I made there were just like family, and we still keep in touch to this day. May GOD keep the memories and service of our time there alive in all of us, and for eternity. |

| Message | My father served on K.I. and I as a young boy also run free on the base as boys would do. I was their from my memories from 1976- 1980. I was 6 when we left. I so wish I could return to the base housing and revisit the blueberry patches that I used to frequent. Dad (Mike Greene)passed away in may of 2012. He was a true dedicated american! I think the closing of the base hit him hard. He continued service with the Indiana air national guard until his passing. God bless! |
