| Message | I was stationed at KI Sawyer from May 1966-April 1967, assigned to the services section. Many fond memories for a very young airman away from home. My first real taste of snow, coming from the deep south. Loved going to town on the weekends. |

| Message | I was stationed at KI from 12/64 thru 12/65. Made alot of great friends and fellow airmen, some of whose names I still recall. Was in the 410 Transportation Squadron, Captain Raines commander with SMGT Ray Nuskiewicz in charge of Transportation. Wing Commander was Colonel Ramputi. Will never forget those winters and Rosies Pizza in Gwinn; the motor pool drove the recreation bus that made regular runs through Marquette, Ishpeming, & Neganee and made occasional runs to the Macinac bridge to exchange aircraft parts with Travis AFB, stopped off at Kinchloe for refueling. Would love to hear from Keith Brodkorb who lives in the Detroit area, I now live in Atlanta GA. Made a motorcycle trip with son-in-law in 2012 back to KI, was very depressing, saw my old barracks "down in the hole", such memories. Kudos to those putting in the time & effort to keep it going. Look for my order soon. |

| Message | I was stationed at K.I. Sawyer somewhere around February 68 to December 1970 before I was sent to Utapao, Thailand. I was in OMS, B52H crew chief, if I remember right the tail number was 0067. I made Ssgt. with end 2 1/2 years from the time I enlisted. My oldest son was born on base in August of 69. I had a lot of good memories at the base. The only bad times was when my aircraft was on alert and I could not go home to my wife and son. I haven't been up there in many years. I'm hoping to take a trip there next summer with my grandkids and show them were there father was born. |

| Message | I served in the 410th Maintenance Hydraulic Shop from 1962 - 1965. I have many great memories like playing blackjack on the shotgun truck. I returned for a visit in 2010 with one of my granddaughters...we marched on the tarmac as I did many years ago. |

| Message | I was stationed at KI with the 87th from 1971 to 1979, working in the avionics shop. I have many fond memories of the squadron, several TDY's to Tyndall and to Keflavik, including a William Tell in 1976. I am looking for anybody in the Com/Nav/Instrument shop that are still around. I was sad beyond belief when they closed the unit and base. Red Bulls Rule! |

| Message | Just found this site. Brought back a lot of good memories. Was sent DDA from basic to K.I. As a Heating Systems Specialist (547x0) in CES. What a place to learn that trade!Spent many an evening in Negaunee, at a red and white bar with two octagon windows facing the street. Owners name was "Gigs" and he welcomed all GIs. Even the ones under age. This was 1965 to 67. He figured if we were old enough to go to Nam, we were old enough to drink a beer or two! Actually got married in the base chapel and shipped out to Spain. Made a career out of it and retired in 87 as a First Sergeant. Good life! |
