MessageHello to all that served at the KI. I was based with the 62nd FIS on the Voodoo from April 1968 until Oct 1970 when I separated. I worked under MSGT Earl Avery. I have never been anywhere as cold as the KI before or after. My oldest was born on base (Jennifer) in Feb 1070 during a dual event, Blizzard and ORI. What fun! KI was one of the few bases where a low ranking E-3 could get base housing. We lived on Packet for almost two years. There was a small little gas station in the housing area where I worked for a year. I think the price per gallon was about .32 cents. Fond memories for me, it seems like two centuries ago.

MessageHi everyone. I was stationed at KI Sawyer from Oct 1981 thru May 1985 in the 87th FIS. Woody then Biff, then Walt were my bosses in the T-33 Section. We were a very close small section of about 10-12 guys. I served 20.8 years, went around the world 3-times, and worked on 8 different types of aircraft, and only once did I have a section where the guys were so close. Oh yeah, I was the boss of the section of 4-6 guys and 2-females. Now that I'm much older, I find myself missing the nice people, people that tell the truth, and the simpler times. God bless the folks of the UP!

MessageAt KI between 69 & 73 with most of my time in the civil engineering squadron. Have fond memories of the base and the great people I met while stationed there. Long nights at the O Club helped pass the time away.
