MessageDid you think the monkeys had something to do with Christianity? It was an argument evolutists used to use a lot to describe how life formed.

MessageYes, Christianity emerged during the period known as Pax Romana, beginning at the eastern end of the emppire during the first century. This is something about which there is no scholarly dispute.

I'm a little perplexed by your answers. The universe was an accident but life did not happen at random. I'm confused.

MessageSorry bout that lapse in time, my little one is sleepy.

No, I don't think monkeys banged on a type writer. Christianity, according to what I have learned came about some time during the first century in Rome, maybe.

Petra, awesome answer.

MessageGina,
Even if life were an accident. How do you account for the physical laws and order in the lifeless part of the universe?

MessagePetra,
What is going on with Mars is that the scientific community has finally realized there is no scenario they can describe that accounts for the appearance of life on this planet and matches the known evidence. So they have started postulating life appearing elsewhere out of range of where we have good geological evidence and being transmitted here by meterite or comet. It is pretty far fetched and shows their desperation in trying to hold the failing theory of evolution together.

MessageA big bang? How could there be a bang? There was no air to transmit the sound. There would have been a flash of light, but no bang. You know, light, as in "Let there be light."

When Darwin visted the Galopos islands he saw some geological strata that led him to believe there was a chain of events that led logically from one species to another. Seemed to make sense until they started learning about micro-biology. A lot of scientists still hold onto evolution, but it is on faith. How do you get species to change the number of chromsomes from one generation to the next. Even if some mutatiion allows it, where does the new life form find a mate? How could DNA form by accident it is much too, ordered and complex. Are you suggesting that old theory that a million monkeys banging away on a million typerwriters for a million years woule eventually produce a novel?

MessageI am enjoying you guys' debate. I may join in here and there, but I'm busy uploading photos right now (for your viewing pleasure, of course). smilie

I will answer this real quick though: "What's going to happen to the Biblical theory when life begins there?"

The Bible doesn't even address whether or not there are life on other planets. God doesn't tell us if He only created us, or if there are whole other solar systems full of creatures out there. I DO know many Christians are VERY narrow-minded though, and believe that nothing could possibly exist except them and that if there were life in other places, that God would have told us. How egotistical of them. In my opinion. smilie If there is life found on Mars, I will be JUST as fascinated as every Scientist out there! smilie But it won't sway my belief in God one iota.

Just my two cents on that one. smilie I know that wasn't even the basis of your debate, but I had an answer for that? :D

MessageWell, I lean toward the Big Bang Theory. I think it was an accident and a chain of events.

MessageI missed your heading - accident.

More to come in a minute.

MessageGina,
If life is found on Mars it may or may not have an impact on some people's perspective of the Bible. However, at this point it is still all speculation. However, that is not the current issue. Never mind the Bible. Forget the feelings. Be scientific. Is the universe an accident or on purpose?
