MessageFor years, I have wondered up around slevoy castle as a child, reading the grave stones, and making up stories in my head. So i was very pleased to read some information about slevoy castle on your website today.
So I wish to thank you for this information, however you provide info dating up to 1911 stating monaghans own this castle at this time. I would be very interested in looking into the more resent tranactions of ownership, would you have any ideas on where i could start??
I was very suprised to find how old the castle actually.
regards
S.Kehoe

T.B> Hi Sabrina. I spent a good few days researching Slevoy and everything I found out about the place is already on my webpage. Sorry I don't know where to find out more. Perhaps locals might know something. If you do find out anything else about the place then please do let me know as I'm curious too.

MessageDrove by in mid Jan 2011. Velvetstown House, quite impressive from the road. Thanks for the great pictures and the history as it has been difficult to "break the code" on this building.

MessageEnjoyed the site, and have ordered the book, for those interested it looks to be a more detailed , though less comprehensive version of Bence Jones s book and Maurice Craigs Irish Houses of the Middle Size. Lots more to photograph in W.Cork ! smilie

MessageTHANK YOU!!!! THis site is amazing and i love your Castle Oliver pages the most. I first saw it in 1989 when going home with my first husband to meet his family in Glenanaar. I was mesmerized then when it was in ruins and seeing it only from a distance. Now that it is restored I am just as in love and drawn to the place and go see it altho from a distance each time i am there. My first husband has been passed away since 1997 and is buried at the Hill of Ardpatrick. My dream is to be able to actually go and spend a night or two there and really walk and experience the grounds and estate....i am an aspiring romance novel author and one of my stories is set in glenanaar and castle oliver. SO thanks again for having Castle Oliver here.
