| Message | Radioman 3rd Class ( CR Div. ) on the U.S.S. Coral Sea ( CVA-43 / CV-43 from 1975 to 1978 ). While awaiting shipboard duty after Boot Camp and Radioman A School, I helped install a large Yellow Ribbon on top of San Francisco Coit Tower for the returning 1974/75 Westpac Coral Sea ( CVA-43 ) Crew on June 2, 1975. I was aboard for the 1975 Long Beach Shipyard overhaul, the 1977 Westpac, and the first half of the Bremerton, WA Shipyard major overhaul in 1978/1979 (lots of fun times, crab caging, and dirtbike riding in Kitsap County!). Been in Telecom industry ever since. Enjoy Ham Radio and received my a General Radio (GROL) commercial radio and Radar Endorsement license. I will always be amazed at the inner-workings of a hot oil smelling Model 28 TTY, and the two guys that fixed them on the ol' CV-43. Subic Bay (especially the Radioman's club- New Diamond and an exceptionally pretty and nice girl named Myrna? who worked there), Yokusuka, and Pusan are all great memories from back during our 1977 Westpac!
