MessageDear Darren,

I've been a fan of your films for years and wanted to say congratulations on The Wrestler. It was a first-class film and you did a wonderful job of conveying the real drama inherent in the world of pro wrestling.

I also wrote an article on pro wrestling as a form of fantasy storytelling for Clarkesworld magazine that you might get a kick out of:
"Steel Chair Through the Looking Glass: The Fractured Fantasy World of Professional Wrestling." Google it if you get the chance.

Looking forward to your next film but hope you are enjoying the mad kudos following in the wake of The Wrestler. Well played, sir.

Huzzah,

Jason S. Ridler, Ph.D.

MessageDarren! Last we saw each other you were sitting next to me in Mr. Levitsky's English class. Where does time go since Manhattan Beach/Murrow days. I love your work and follow it closely. I'm living in Hell's Kitchen in NY...producing wacky cool events around the globe. Would love to hear back from you. All the best old Brooklyn friend.

MessageDarren, "The Wrestler" is the greatest thing I have ever seen. I am now going to learn backside-crail-slides, properly. If my 32 year old body gets a little banged up; screw it. RAM JAM! Mickey Rourke is the best actor in the world.

Thank you for The Wrestler, Darren.

I just gotta say I got my start from the inspiration that The fountain provided!

It has such depth and beauty that I can not explain it.

I bought the graphic novel before the movie and have been in lvoe with it since.

When ever i need inspiration I watch it.
When i am down I watch it
when i am happy I watch it.
It is my citizen kane.

And Darren is the Orson Wells of our time

MessageHello,

I'm here just to say that The Fountain is stuck in my head. I can not describe in words how much I loved the movie. Although I'm still discovering it's beauty and depth, what's real in the movie and what's fictional I've thoroughly enjoyed it and experienced it like no other movie.

My good wishes are with you! Keep up the good work.

MessageI loved The Wrestler. It was a masterpiece. Your direction captured Mickey at his finest. I am a very heavy Mickey Rourke fan. I have followed him through thick and thin. You have inspired so many of his fans. And don't under estimate how die hard his fans are, and how much they have been hurting for him. I am a Creative Director and his fans are from every walk of life. Low income, high income, women, men, young and old. We have all been waiting for him to explode off the screen and crush us, and you did it. Your direction got us there. You have an intuitive style that gives a platform for a great actor to explore his Wheel of Color. And then you enhance it even more with your texture and artistic sensitivity. Thank you, thank you thank you. This film will be in future film study classes.
