MessageDarren,

Congratulations on the new movie... can't wait to see it.

I'm happy for Mickey -- he had this one coming. I appreciate you seeing beyond the surface and helping him release his potential.

I had the chance to support Mickey in his fitness quest in the 90's and know he's a unique individual when it comes to staying strong and fit. What he was able to do (with some assistance I believe my my friend Mike Ryan) is truly a testament to his tenacity.

I can't wait to see this... I think it's going to make Rocky look like a decent movie... and the boost to Rourke's career will be ala Pulp Fiction for Travolta.

In Strength,
Shawn

MessageHey Darren,

I'm a writer for Harley Race and his promotion World League Wrestling. We met last year at the Ring of Honor show in Manhattan. I was wondering if it would be possible for me to do a short interview with Mickey Rourke for our website.
I appreciate your time.

Thank you,
Joe Timlin

MessageDarren, thanks so much for making this film... I really hope it hits the general public as hard as it hit me. Being in the business for 19 years now and working 4- 6 nights a week just to support myself on the road let alone the 4 ex wives and 4 kids left behind is really hard on my body and mind let alone what it does to those left in the aftermath of it all. Coming home and being too tired and hurt to play with the kids, the wife complaining about being home alone all the time, always getting stiffed on the paydays... not being able to pay the medical bills that accrue, it all adds up. Over time you do get adjusted to walking around in a certain amount of pain and agony... but people dont realize what its really like because they think its all fake and a soap opera for men... so not true. I would not wish this on anyone, it really isn't something that I would want my sons or daughters to do because i know how it all turns out if you don't end up being Hulk Hogan or the Rock, or marrying the bosses daughter (H-Bomb). with ay luck this will turn the face of the business around and open peoples eyes as to where they can see the hardest working guys in the business... the Independent Circuit! I watched Dylan go through all the changes through his career... he made me proud with his performance in your project. I'm glad you gave him a break and brought out that natural charisma that he doesn't think he has. hopefully this weekend i will catch the movie with him in NYC...

MessageWatched "The Wrestler" at a press screening a little while back. Brilliant work man. I'm a filmmaker myself and your work is inspiring. The visual style of "The Wrestler" is spot on. I like the fact that you had the humility to step back and not show your hand so much. Very cool. Many filmmakers wouldn't have the fortitude for such an act. Keep going man. I can't wait to see more of your work.

MessageYou're an inspiration to many aspiring directors and screenwriters including myself. Your movies require thought and emotion, which is lost in the film world today. Some say that Hollywood died when Kubrick died. I believe that this is false because you are continuing of the true art of film. Please continue to direct and write movies. You are not only inspiring me, but the thousands of other supporters as well.

Also, I heard a rumor that you were not interested in doing "Robocop" anymore. Please for the love of God don't let someone else direct this movie; keep up the good work!

MessageCongratulations from your cousin in Omaha on the great notices and the awards for 'The Wrestler'. I last saw your dad when he came to my grandmother Martha's funeral a couple of years back. I don't think you and I have crossed paths for many years though - not since the early 70s when all our parents used to get together pretty regularly. In any case I really admire the work you've been doing.

Regards,

Jeff
