MessageI just finished watching The Fountain and it's amazing. Breathtaking in ever way. I've seen Requiem for a Dream and Pi but The Fountain was deep and thoughtful and one of those movies that you don't stop thinking about. It angers me that this wasn't better received, but that just shows how shallow society is these days. Keep up the good work and keep making wonderful movies like this and maybe one day society will understand.

MessageThank you for The Fountain.

After watching it 5 times, I finally went online and found your commentary. It was much appreciated.

Congratulations on all the success you are having with The Wrestler. I enjoyed it very much; However, it did seem like The Fountain was a sort of magnum opus, and everything you do now will be compared to it... at least you can count on me to compare everything you do to it.

Whatever you do. Just don't Terry Gilliam out on me.

Thank you again.

MessageI love Requiem for a Dream and Pi, but especially The Fountain. I think it's one of the greatest movies ever made. It moved me so much watching it, afterwards, I was just... awed.

Thank you. I'm sure you've gotten many complements, but I wanted you to know how I feel.

MessageIt's amazing how all of your films up until The Wrestler were heavy in effects and hip hop quick cut editing and yet they weren't received as well as your latest, The Wrestler. Box office Wise.
Do you think going back to basics and letting
story play itself out, had something to do with it? Or do you think having a studio like Fox behind it to help you guys tour the World promoting the hell out of it did it for you? Or maybe both? Also, kudos go out to you for taming the big bad bear Mickey Rourke. You are a true force to be reckoned with.

Continued success.
Bobby

MessageHoping that Darren does indeed read this himself, a real challenge and potential film "coup" for a producer/writer/director of his great talent and zeal for capturing the essence of both character and compelling story might be a true bio-film on the life of the shadowy genius Hungarian mathematician Erdos , who spent most years of his productive academic life "under the radar" of the ivory towers of the world, but closely connected at times to Einstein himself. Erdos roamed nomadically, living like traveling hobo genius, addicted to amphetamines(without which he would never even attempt serious mathematical thought,). generally paranoid, in and out of institutions with psychotic episodes. He would NEVER settle down to live and do work restrained by any setting. Einstein would somehow(something to be researched) arrange secret meetings with Erdos on public park benches near Princeton to ask for help with highly complicated equations and mathematical predictions connected to his broader research. I would love to see someone like Darren look into a project like this and somehow get the 'backing" to get it portrayed in serious film. Proud to be a native "Brooklynite" like Darren and first read "Last Exit..." around 1967. Kudos to him in his great success with The Wrestler.
