MessageDear Daniel,
It was good to talk to you. Please give a call when you can and let us know how you are doing. As far as I know, free weekend plans are arranged and MBI has our ok. Please let me know if anything comes up. Most importantly, keep drinking liquids and make sure you are eating! (Water alone is not enough!)
Much, much love,
Mom
PS -- We got the new Harry Potter book (bought it in Vineland yesterday, August 1) and Dad is already into it. We left Vineland last night around 8 and are now back home. Love, M

MessageHi Joc,
I hope your day at Yad Vashem was as moving as it was for me. I often wonder if the emotion gets watered down as the generations get farther away - me as the daughter and you as the great-grandaughter (as you never knew my father) of the survivor. You'll let me know how you felt, if you got time alone to reflect on what you were seeing. Anyway, Poppop is back in the hospital again. Daddy is up, then he is down, then up again with emotion. Poppop is doing much better than when he went back there on Tuesday (it's Thursday here now). Daddy and I will be going to pick up Dylan on Saturday - leaving at about 6:30 am and returning hopefully by 8:30 pm. Looong ride! I read in the blog that you were all going to try Knafe! I still have more knafe dough - we can make it again when you get home! Also, did you get to try Anoni fruit yet?
I love you! Make sure you call me when you are with Kaitlyn so I know where you are!
Love,
Mom ;-)

MessageHi Jazlana!

Great speaking with you yesterday!

I'm still sick and at home but will try and make it into the office tomorrow.

I changed my flight to Sunday (so I can't see Grandma and Poppy) because I may still be too congested to take that long of a flight. I'll be in San Francisco late Sunday afternoon and then Maureen and I will be flying to LA on Monday evening. We'll be in LA until early Thursday AM and then we'll fly back to Newark.

Congratulations! You have a new cousin as of August 1-- Alisa Lai (Not sure how they're spelling her name). Sweetlove had no problems and she was born at 11PM.

I love you,

Mommy

MessageBrian, glad to hear you are having so much fun. You can contact Susan at home phone (02-561 1801…..but when you are calling from within the Jerusalem area code, the 02 is omitted); or my husband Ian Fierstein's mobile phone (054 237 7867), or my mobile phone, which in all honesty is not always turned on (054 4430 520).

Please contact her as soon as you can.

Love, Dad

MessageDear Dov - it's countdown time. Your dad was watching me getting some of my things together last night, ready for packing, and said, "But you're not leaving until Saturday morning!" You take after him. Do you remember the synagogue librarian from Florida who interviewed me over the phone? Well the podcast is now available. Too bad I hate listening to myself. There are three interviews and mine's the second one. She plays some old klezmer music on her show too. Your days sound very full and interesting. When I read the blogs I feel as if I'm there, and it makes me want to visit Israel again. You must have made so many new friends.
There's just room for the nag list: sunscreen, water, retainer, teeth, read a book, wear your sun hat. Love and kisses, Mom xoxoxoxo smilie smilie

MessageHi Sweetheart:

Just a short note to say "hello" and to hope that you are still having a wonderful time. The reports about the trip are super and you are certainly covering a lot of ground. By the way, if you pass the Wolfson Towers, nod in their direction. That is where Bubbie and I lived when I had my Sabbatical in Israel. We are making final plans for our family gathering and I am preparing to be 80 years YOUNG.
Bubbie and I send our love and see you soon.

MessageLilly, Sounds like you had a very powerful day. I'm sure lots of tears were shed. I know you are familiar with some of the Holocaust having just done a report on it, but this really makes it hit home. Even seeing the train car on tracks was moving for me. smilie We did the same thing and went to the cemetary afterwards. There wasn't a lot of talking of joking around that day as I'm sure was the same for you. Being Jewish is not easy, is it?

I hope you have everything set for you free weekend. Did you ever reach your cousins? Did you try to call Phylis? She would at least like to hear from you...I know you don't know her, but she and Bubbe communicated and I think she is expecting something (phone call will work).

I will be in Texas with Keith's family this weekend. I will have my cell phone with me for the whole time if you need to reach me.

Just a quick reminder, you will be registering for school the Monday you get back, so try to sleep on the plane smilie . I have to work so we need to be a school at 8am to get in early before the rush.

Have a nice Shabbat.

I love you and miss you! smilie

MessageHi Beth!
I'm so sry it took me so long to write you again but I had absolutely no idea what to say! Nothing going on around here seems like it could ever be as exciting as Israel.
I do, however, feel like I should tell you some news. Nicole will be moving to New Orleans to live with her uncle before you got home.
Alright, good luck digesting that. I'm sry to be the messenger!
Otherwise not a lot is really going on around here. My job is almost over, it was interesting and I learned a lot about labs but I was never all that into it. I definitely don't want to go into medicine now! I'm leaving for Alaska on Sunday and I'm super exciting of course!
On Tuesday night I went to go see Julia's Blue Lake concert at Hill Auditorium, that was really cool. They sang a bunch of their songs from Europe but also a Mass! My family was hosting a blue lake girl for two nights and that was fun too, wierd that she could speak English natively though, lol!
Everyone misses you and hopes you come back with just a few scrapes and bruises for your adventures.
Hope you are having a fantastic time

-Vera
