MessageHi Sweetie

We are trying to figure out how to work out your free day. Moti has to work at teh pharmacy till 2 PM, and you need to get picked up by 10:30 from Tel Aviv. Hopefully, Michael Kanter and Leon will figure out what to do (maybe you can stick around till Moti picks you up?). In the worst case, I guess you get to stay with the group.

It sounds like you had a pretty busy and emotional day, with Yad Vashem and all.

Buzz stayed up late and watched the Harry Potter II movie with us, since he finished that book yesterday.

Love,

Mom, Dad, Buzz and Gilly

MessageDear Rachel:

How are you? I read the blog and heard about your moving trip to Yad Vashem. Remember our trip their with Yossi? Hard to believe that you have now been in Israel for over 3 weeks and that 2 weeks from tonight we will be in Vancouver.
Jeremy and I went to Washington on Wednesday and stayed till Sunday. Dad came in for 24 hours and then went to the Camp Tavor Board meeting on Sunday. Aunt Erica, Uncle Michael and Elliott left Massachusetts a day early and came down Saturday night/Sunday morning to see us. Elliott is very cute and now speaks and is happy to repeat whatever Jeremy told him to say. We also saw Aunt Sally. Jeremy went swimming several times and to a museum. Everyone asked about you and says hello. We got a nice note from Maury and they enjoyed their visit with you. Yossi left a message and I left him a message with Leon's contact information so maybe you'll see him too. Did you see Roee? Micky Soclof is in Israel too. We had Graham over for dinner Monday night (Emily is at camp; Uncle David and Aunt Virginia are in Vermont) - we went and played minature golf (For the record, Dad beat me by 1 stroke). Jeremy and Dad went fishing tonight and Jeremy caught 7 fish. Jeremy is doing the Youth Volunteer Corp at the Y for this week and next week. It is working out well for him. From reading the blog, it truly sounds like a memorable trip. Enjoy Israel and your last few days of being 15. Much love, Mom

MessageDear David:

America is well. She stands strong with the force of our proud governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

I am in California, just outside of Los Angeles. We're staying in three hotels over the next week as we move around Southern California -- one here in Annehime, one in San Clemente, and one in Hollywood. Although I spent the entire day on the plane, the time difference caught up to us and it was only 11:30 am when we got here. Since I'm still a little sick, riding a plane for eight hours really f***ed (the first time I tried to send this message it told me no inappropriate words!) with my ears, so I'm lying in the hotel room watching Jon Stewart.

I made an amazing discovery -- it is possible to time travel into the future.

Here's how: If you depart from California on a flight to Japan on the night of August 11, you'll wake up the morning of August 13, because you passed the International Time Line (its not really called that) which is in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. You have COMPLETELY SKIPPED August 12! You will never be able to live through August 12th because you simply skipped over it! Amazing, I know.

Anyways, continue having fun in Israel, and gimme a call if you get the chance.

PS -- We're now literally on opposite sides of the world. Peace!

Best Regards,
Peter Lansworth

MessageHi JJ,
We're here in Seoul, having a good time although it is verywe hot and humid! probably like what you're having but maybe more humid here. We like it a lot, great food of all kinds, good shopping and we've been to a screening room (you can rent a dvd and go watch it in your own private room with a couch and a big screen; they are very popular here. Actually we though we were buying the DVD's since they were on a list sam gave me, but it turned out they misunderstood us and they thought we were renting all 3 of them to be watched one after the other....at the end we worked it out and got our money back but haven't been able to find sam's frequested dvd's anywhere. Today we were hoping to leave to a beach somewhere but we found out it that everyone in all of Korea is on vacagtion this week and we'll never get a reservation so we'll just stay in Seoul. I go home Monday so I can pick up seth, jello and stephen at the bus on tuesday. Hope you're having the time of your life. Love, Mom

MessageLauren,
This is the email I got from Dr. Alatorre:

Hi Judy –

I have had several discussions with various people about the philosophy and practices of OCHSA. What I found out is that the commitment to the Arts is paramount to the mission and beliefs of the school. Everyone that I spoke to reinforced this belief of what OCHSA is about. I also checked into the Student Policies and Procedures and Curriculum Handbook for OCHSA and each document are clear that all students are enrolled for both academic and conservatory full-time.

When we spoke I talked about the ‘whole child’ and importance of developing many aspects of the student. For many schools (especially in the ‘traditional’ public schools) this is the main focus of their educational program, and rightfully so. For OCHSA, we are specialized and committed to the mission of our charter. Because of this there is not the possibility of taking a ‘reduced’ schedule in the conservatory.

I know this puts the decision back on Lauren, and hope that she will see the value of what we have to offer.

Ron

I'm as bummed as you about it since I spent 1 1/2 hours in his office a couple of weeks back - making your case. I don't think either decision will be bad. We'll talk. Love, Snoopy

MessageLaur - Hope you are having a great time. I saw that you saw an archeological site today. How was that? I am so jealous, since I have wanted to do that all my life. You'll have to tell me more about it when you get home. Did you get my letter yet? And did you find Dad's letter?
Jordi did get a dress for the wedding and we can't wait to hear about your shopping adventures. Everyone is fine - but we all miss you terribly. It is way too quiet around the house. I have pictures of V's car - I am so thankful they are ok!

Call us soon. We want to hear about your adventures and what you will be doing at camp this weekend.

Love you and miss you!!! Mom
