MessageHi Jazlana!

Well, now I'm in sunny LA! Beautiful weather! More comfortable here than in NJ/NY.

Maureen got pulled off the line at SFO airport last night because she had mousse in her bag. What a scene! Anyway-- our flight got delayed and we arrived at our hotel close to 10PM. I'm back at the Beverly Wilshire which is fabulous beyond belief! However, Maureen got woken up at 3AM to faulty alarms sounding for 1/2 hour. She's only one floor below me and heard absolutely nothing!

Got up early and worked out (they have exercise balls here!) and then I walked to the office (of course, in LA, I'm one of the only few freaks walking anywhere).

Maureen sends her love and we have a busy day here today!

Love and hugs and kisses,

Mommy

MessageFirst of all, it does not stink that much in Vancouver due to the garbage strike. It's not that bad, though I wish the city would be more generous and settle with the workers. All the surrounding municipalities have come to agreement with labour, but not Vancouver. This is a perfect example of where some of the ideas of Habonim Dror would help our right-wing city mayor and counselors improve their attitude to the working classes. Maybe Vancouver city counsel should be invited to Camp Miriam one year to learn how Socialism really works.

Davina, our weekend with Sam and Samantha was great. We all had a great time. The weather was beautiful and now Samantha and Sam feel comfortable coming over to our house more often. So you can look forward to that kind of thing when you come back home.

See you soon! Love, Dad

MessageDear Caryn,
Hope you are having many funs and that you sang at the open mic! Just wanted to remind you that Wednesday, Aug 8 is Savta's birthday & it would be really swell if you gave her a call to wish her "Yom Huledet Sameach." Not too much new here--last night I made Hard Times style chili at home & it was well-received. The NY Times had a photo spread on handbags inspired by dogs & there was a woman carrying a pocketbook that looked like Gus! Yeuw! Brett offered to babysit Phoebe Himmelfarb while the family was away for a long weekend & now it looks like they'll be gone 4 days! Oh well, at least he can visit us!! Love you so much,
Mim-Z

MessageLoretta and I got back around 7 p.m. yesterday. Mom, Dad and Pat met us at my house to remove the boogie boards, soaking wet sleeping bags and other beach debris. L & I were hoping to be stopped on the road so that we would have to explain why two grandmotherly types had 3 boogie boards in the back seat. We decided that we would sell craft irems in the future under the business name of "Beautiful baubles and beads by Bobes with Boogie Boards." Along the way we had stopped at craft shows in Appalachia (I only bought three cats), ridden through horse country. etc., and generally did enough shun piking to last several months. It was a good time.

I understand that this may be the last time I write so I'd like to take this opportunity to say that it has been a pleasure to write to you, even without responses, and hope we can find time in the future for real time together. Enjoy you last days. I am so looking forward to seeing and hugging my tall (are you taller?) beloved grandson soon. Love, Bobe smilie
