| Message | Hi, Jon - I'm sure you're glad to be back w/ the full group and ready to take on the final week of activities before leaving Eretz Yisrael. Your itinerary looks jam packed - good luck trying to squeeze in everything... Some quick baseball news- Phils crushed Marlins 11-1 tonite (Tuesday) as Howard hit two more HR (32) to tie Fielder for the NL lead. Mets lost to Braves so Phils (59-53) only 4 back. Reds beat LA 4-0 on Arroyo shutout, Yanks won and await Bosox-Angels result to see if they can close the gap to five. Those Yankees never seem to go away! D-Backs hottest team in baseball & have zoomed to top of West. Bonds going for #756 against Nats. He should break the record very soon, because after Washington the Pirates come into SF. Between those two awful teams someone's bound to give up a Bonds bomb. Finished my work on the HBO show, so I return to normal projects for a couple of weeks before I go back on that program again. I cut one segment on a Chiefs guy we wired in practice that I'll want to tell you about when you return home...Max, Jacob & Sarah had dinner w/us tonite, as did the Alexanders (but not their sons who are still away). Primer coat of paint went down today in your room, and it should be finished tomorrow. You'll have some re-arranging to do w/all your wall decor when you come home - but it shouldnt take too long. | Message | Hi Jon, Wow! What a wonderful day it sounds like you had...ending with a meal in the Bedouin tents, sleeping under the stars, Tomorrow you return to Masada. I hope it is even more meaningful than in the fall. Busy day here today. Painting of your room began and we had Max, Sarah, Jake and David and Ryna all here at once. It was fun, but we all missed you. We can't wait to see you. I had sushi with Lisa today while Claire and Rebecca walked to WaWa for hoagies. Some last minute changes to our Boston trip...we are coming home Saturday instead of Sunday. Dad and I have a surprise 60th birthday party to go to in Atlantic City for Barbara Gray on Sunday. If you want to go down the shore on Sunday, we can take you and you can hang out at Janice's or wherever. maybe you can use your free surf tickets that day. maybe some of your friends will be down there then, as well. we also have a 50th birthday party for miriam at her house on saturday night, september 1st. she lives up near alex. if he's around then and can hang out, we will bring you. fafa wants to take us all out for dad's birthday maybe sunday evening to the oceanire in philly (remember that place we went to in indianapolis that we all enjoyed so much?) jenna and the twins are in again--janice is making dinner fri night in AC. dad $ i might go to new york on saturday. jon, hope your last remaining days in israel this summer are everything you could hope for. we love you and look forward to seeing you. love, mom |

| Message | Hi Anna, We are back from Washington Island! We had a great time and the weather was splendid. We saw Margaret, Lydia and Kirby and they are all doing well. We went to the Swedish Festival on Saturday and were we saw Lydia dancing in several of the "couple dances". She looked radiant and her costume was lovely. Aaron and Maia camped at the campgrounds, but ate several meals with us. We all went to Rock Island on Tuesday and Dad, Sam and I took the long hike around the Island. I wish we could have stayed longer, but we all have to get back to work and Maia is leaving for college on Monday (8/13)! I hope that you had a good time on the free weekend. It sounds like you had some time to relax and that they had several activities planned for those of you who stayed behind. Now that you are heading down to Eilot you will truly be close to Miriam's kibbutz. I hope that your climb to Masada goes well. We are getting excited about your return. | Message | Hi Alex! Hope you are having fun! We got back to Chicago late yesterday - trip home was fine. Grandma & Z are back at the bungalow, their trip home was fine as well. We loved seeing you in Jerusalem, and can't wait to see you in just a few days! Taijuan stopped by to say hi, and Dan is out with his friends. Dad is back in NY already. | Message | Laur, I am so sorry I missed your call this morning. My cell phone was on vibrate and I didn't notice until later. I called back, but missed you. Jordi said you were feeling a little better.  I was reading the blog and the trip to meet the Bedouins sounded amazing. And tomorrow is the Masada - it will be incredible. I am counting the days to see you - I know it will be tough to leave all these wonderful friends - but you will keep in touch. Jordi, Dad, Jessie and I can't wait much longer!!! | Message | Hi Kendra! Today is Zayde's 80th birthday. HE says he looks in the mirror and can't believe he is 80. I know what he means. I look in the mirror and can't believe I am 50. I look at you and can't believe that Saturday you will be 16. In Israel, no less. Call us. We know you have lost your phone. Borrow one and call us anyway. | Message | Hi Hon: I tried calling you in the early evening- your itme- but the line was busy. I realize you are lamaneting not being with your friends for much longer, but we will be happy to have you home. Lots to plan and schedule, organize and enjoy for the coming (academic) year. To start we will be hosting second night Rosh Hashana, with at least ourselves, the Diamonds and Boobie/Arieh. I have invited the Capeks but they have no idea what is happening yet given the moves and university. I have also invited the Milgrams but they appear to be away at this time so not heard from them yet. benjamin and others are taking driving in-class course week of aug 27 somewhere on Dell Park. | Message | Hi from London! We're using the computer at the hotel to read our e-mail and the MBI blog. We've been having a wonderful time. Mommy's show was great! It was a beautiful opera house with a sell-out crowd of about a 1,000. The crowed seemed to love the show. Mommy did great. You'll get to see it when you get home since we have a DVD of the show! We saw the Israeli embassy today and have been eating a lot of excellent middle eastern food here. So we feel a bit closer to you. Also -- we're only two hours different.
