Your Favourite StoryAll, I refuse to pick
MessageThat was a truly awesome chapter!
Sûlchim is quickly climbing the ranks in my list of favorite characters from your stories, and Legolas' brothers are absolutely fantastic. The conversation between Sûlchim and Legolas was so great; I'm glad Legolas has a friend who can be so frank with him.
The story-telling competition was a work of genius, I was also near tears about Thranduil's reaction.
You are brilliant, and the new format looks beautiful!

MessageI can't tell you how excited I was to see the update to Cuthenin. I had to do my happy dance before settling down to read smilie

It was worth the wait! We get to see Legolas and Glorfindel going through so many emotions here and each moment was beautifully done. I think my favourite moment was when Glorfindel realised that Legolas was his ideal companion. If he had doubts about the match beforehand, I don't think he has now.

The tale-telling with the brothers was brilliant (and surprisingly moving at the end with the description of Thranduil's reaction to Legolas' note). Having brothers myself, I have every sympathy for Legolas here smilie

I also enjoyed the separate little talks Legolas and Glorfindel had - with Legolas' cousin egging him on to consummate the bond asap and his brothers warning Glorfindel off. At least Glorfindel understands the need to be careful not to wound Legolas' ego. I'm looking forward to seeing how that plays out. I think Legolas will be making his move soon.

Finally, the end had me in tears when Legolas was gathering up Calarlim's remains. I was so glad he had Glorfindel there to comfort him.

A wonderful update - it really made my afternoon. BTW, I was touched to be mentioned in your dedication. I'm glad my reviews have been encouraging smilie

Vicky

Messagewow that is TWO votes for Cuthenin! Who knew?

Vicky, thanks for the good thoughts! and these kind words for Cuthenin. Pâd-en-Tawar was important to me to develop, having started the idea in Feud and never taking it far there. I have this duality-at times i feel structured religion is controlling and reduces open-minded thought. then at other times i feel that such structure is important and gives a person a safe place from which to explore the world. i tried to make the wood elves' religion not too perfect, because i do think that the temptation to hide behind religion and use it to actually create hurtful situations is strong. So happy you liked Galion in that story! he's better there than in Aearlinn, where I'm not going to give him much to do.

Stef: I know what you mean about Feud; it really is terribly dark and depressing. I think that's partly why it's so hard to go back to it now. I think after Aearlinn I must go ahead and just finish it. It gets pretty bad right about now. Yeah, I know; it was already pretty gruelling. Time to finish. Then I can work on the lighter stories. Well it pleases me greatly that Thranduil's character rings true in Cuthenin. I wanted to show that the isolation wasn't felt only by Cuthenin. Thranduil has suffered terribly, too. Calarlim meant well but did them both a disservice.

I think the Tawarwaith group could be used for this if folks want to. Sorry i just can't seem to get the forum to work. I'll take another look at it.

MessageGlad you arrived safely!
I agree with Ceren Cae's proposal, perhaps we could post through the tawarwaith group?
My favourite story so far is Cuthenin, my favourite characters is Thranduil, I find him most human, divided as he is between the law and custom of his people and the need for Legolas to express his sexuality and find his way to happiness.
And I really like Aerlinn, bu again i have a crush for mpreg stories and this one is credible (the same cannot be said for most mpreg fics) and, even if the situation is exasperated, i find it gives a fair representation of all the doubts, fears and hopes of a real pregnancy.
Feud is really too dark, but it was the very first LOTR fanfiction I read and I'm waiting tosee the end... it remembers me of Sam's lines in the two towers (i watched the movies in italian so i don't know the exact wording): "it is as in the great, important stories, there was darkness and you would not hear the end because how could there be an happy ending after so much pain?"
but i hope even for the tawarwaith there will be light and peace in the end.

MessageGlad to hear you made it safe and sound to the camp. I hope it provides you with plenty of inspiration for your writing.

I think a discussion is a good idea too. So to answer Ceren Cae's question:

I find it hard to pick a favourite - it tends to be whichever I'm reading at the time - but it's between Feud, Hir o Meril Thafn, Cuthenin and Aerlinn. If I was forced to choose one, I think I would choose Cuthenin. Partly because I really like the pairing of Legolas and Glorfindel but mostly because of the amazing depth that the descriptions of the wood elves' religion gives to the tale.

In all the stories I really appreciate the attention to the characterisation. Even the most minor characters have distinct personalities. I think my favourite minor character is Galion in Cuthenin - another reson for saying that would be my favourite story.

Messagemore great feedback! smilie love you guys!

shadow in the dark: thanks for the good wishes and these compliments!you're right, Erestor was completely taken by surprise! the triple bond is problematic, true. obviously, it can't be viewed too favourably if legolas never heard of it, then again,it may be so rare that it just didn't come up. i'm goin to try and handle it well, we'll see how i do! smilie

Ceren Cae: that is a great idea except the guestbook only lets people sign it once a day smilie i have a BB i started once but couldn't figure out how to customise the thing so it would work.if you,or anybody else wants to give it a shot i can add you as a mod or something.

thank you for picking Meril Thafn as your fave! smilie yes,i've had fun with that one and just recently envisioned the finale and ending in fine detail.i know, lots to cover first, but it is hopefully funny and also very angsty with a surprise 'hero' to the rescue.much better than the ending i had worked out before. looking forward to getting back to it.
