MessageStef: thanks so much! you are so right, what Legolas has gone through is really degrading, but he made the best of it for Galbreth's sake. i also think it's interesting that once he conceived, he began seeing things from a new angle, thinking of the effect all that would have on the child. that is when he first stood up for himself, and for their child, to elrond. and yes, he was conditioned to expect an arranged marriage but we've heard he was not happy about it, to the point that he was not informed once the deal was made. we'll explore more about his and elrond's thoughts on it in future. as for the twins, you hit that right on target, this is what draws legolas to them, he's very comfortable with them now. your last statement is partially true and this is the cause for the contention that continues to lie beneath the surface of their union. elrond needs to do something drastic to reassure legolas.

Ceren Cae: thank you! Aw shucks, glad Faron pleases you so smilie The mistake was in saying Galbreth had only one son when i'd already said he had five! oh well,it is fixed now.

Vicky: i'm so happy you approve of the Lost Twins' fate. that scroll was actually going to be a segue into more on legolas' mom, but when you mentioned dior's sons i decided that was the perfect way to work them in.i'm running out of characters and will have to finish the rest of this on the group site. your points are excellent and i want to address them fully. thank you again so much! smilie

MessageI was so happy to find this waiting for me when I got back today.

I'm overjoyed that Elured (Elril) is still alive. I'd thought that the disappearance of the scroll would prove significant, but I hadn't imagined that it had been taken by Elril himself. I suppose the temptation to see something written in his father's own hand must have been overwhelming. I especially liked the fact that he is so close to Legolas. I think he will be a valuable ally for Elrond in helping him to understand both the ways of Thranduil's family and Legolas himself.

It was sad that Elurin had chosen mortality, but I liked the idea that his line had become the beornings. I think that's as good an explanation as any for the existence of such strange beings.

The reminder of the choice of the Peredhil made me think of the twins - I wonder if they have made their choice yet and what that would mean for Legolas.

As a healer, Elrond must be horrified to learn that the cures he administered to the silvans caused sterility. I do wonder why they didn't affect Legolas though.

Again, through Faron's and Elril's eyes, we learn more of Legolas' character before the attack and how much he has changed as a result. I liked seeing Legolas' interaction with Faron, because I think we probably saw him closer to his old self there. It sounds like he was quite a handful and not above pulling rank. I wonder if Elrond really knows what he's let himself in for? smilie

MessageAh, updates are so wonderful.
I loved this chapter. Your imagery is truly excellent. You describe your settings so vividly. It is really just a joy to read.
Regarding Faron and Sulchim; I'm actually quite glad they're pretty much the same character. He's practically a canon character in your stories(to me at least). Like the twins, and Thranduil, and Galion, I adore him.
And I completely missed any mistakes; I thought it all seemed plausible.

Messageyes! i like the faron you presented in nestaron (that fic is going to be fun once you get to it after all our requests!)
back to aerlinn i apreciated your explanation of how legolas came to love elrond: legolas fought to love an elf who treated him in the most shameful way, all for the sake of his decased brother. elrond worries about legolas falling in love with the twins are justified, not so much because of their heroic and tragic personas, but becasue there is something simple and endearing in their character: even being lords and heirs of imladris they don't seem to love the refined and snobbish mannerisms so common among elrond's household.
in a way they are much more their mother's children than elrond's.
elrond had a shocking morning, learning about the disaster in which resulted his efforts at dagorland and the ultimate fate of his lost uncle, but i would like to know what he thinks about the arranged marriage.
legolas is quite right in desidering to be loved for himself and not his parentage: it cannot be easy to come to terms with fact that that you must submit to a stranger, and belong to him forever, never knowing real love, just to grant your people a vantagous trade agreement.
he also must feel very uncertain, feeling he was not able to conquer elrond depending on his character alone, the only conclusion he can come to is that as an elf he is not worthy enough to be wanted as a true soulmate.

MessageFeedback smilie Hurray!

Thanks Stef! what would I do without you smilie Did i really say Galbreth had so many young ones? smilie Ai! I did not remember that. That's what I get for trying to be too clever. well, i guess i better get back to work on the last chapter and fix that mistake. But you are right about Rhun'waew. and I have an extra little twist to her story, too, that i can't share yet as it bears on another issue that hasn't been resolved. as for Faron and Sul, they are the same character. Faron first appeared in another unfinished story that resides in the group files only, and I've been using him as Legolas' best friend ever since. oh well, i just want Legolas' friend to be a certain way and can't seem to get past that. I will think about it some more and see what else I can come up with.

Ebbingnight: so happy you enjoyed it the chapter, too! thank you.

Your Favourite Storycuthenin aerlinn
Messagehi everyone! i am gone for a weeks or so and coming back i find not one but two updates?? i'm going to leave more often!

Cuthenin: new chapter was so intense! sweet and sad at the same time...
i know calarlim meant well but she was also so jelously possessive toward legolas that neither his father nor his brothers had any possibility to be open to him and let him know that he was not despised for his nature or the circumstances of his birth...
the ale of thranduil's birthday party is brilliant! and the last bit, ah uyou had me in tears.

As for Aerlin, i quite like both Faelon and Faron (it showss that you are writing the two stories together, Faron and Sulchim are really similar), and i liked the way you introduced Elril character.
Tolkien tells nothing about the lost sons of Dior but your take on that story is realistic: i also wondered often on the powers of the beornings.
the succession works in a very complicated way, i admit you lost me halfway through elril's explanation, butr i understand that legolas is quite a disturbance for Aras.
two questions: back in the chapter regarding the sylvans arrival didn't you say that galbreth had fathered nine children?
legolas said and rhùnwaew herself confirmed that she was born in imladris, but galbreth was already an adult with many descendants at dagorland. did she died there and was recreated by her parents or some relative (not cured by noldorin healers) as to give thranduil his mate back as soon as possible?

MessageWell it's taken a while but I am her to say Thank You smilie
Vicky: So happy you enjoyed the Cuthenin chapter. No doubt, you're kind words helped inspire me to take the story up again. I don't know how quickly I can put together another chapter as Aearlinn once more has me in its grip, but Cuthenin is so close to completion that I am itching to get it done.
Ceren Cae: Pleased I am that you liked this episode of Cuthenin, and that Sul is becoming a favourite. I confess I have trouble at times keeping Sul and Faron separate, for in my mind they are essentially the same character, just with different names for different stories. hope that doesn't make it unpleasant or confusing.
Ebbingnight: Ah, you found your way here from Shadowess' site! She gave me my very first venue for fanfiction by being the list-owner of legolas in chains yahoo group. That is where the very first chapter of Feud went up. glad you are enjoying Aearlinn.
Annie: I am so proud to be featured on Luna's site. Her art is just beautiful and the project she has undertaken is amazing. I cannot imagine translating anything into a different language, much less something as wordy as Feud! Chapter 7 is indeed a very sad chapter. There is not much in Feud that is easy to read, i'm afraid. Thank you for your kind words.
mithriel: oh it is amazing to know people in china are reading Feud! gives me goosebumps! where and how did you find me? thank you for signing in! I like your closing:

Love and Peace, ya'll smilie
