MessageFarewell Barney Barnard.

I remember him running the battalion football team in Cyprus in 1972 along with John (Scouse)Tynan and Tony Roberts from 9 Sqn. he was totally unflappable and so laid back and had the ability to make good footballers into great players, he even managed to convince fellow Norwich supporter Des Fuller that his left foot was not just for standing on!

Rest in Peace Barney my old friend you were an inspiration to all who knew you.

Message1. Sad news. I have just heard that 'Barney' Barnard, long-time member of the battalion and CSM of Patrol Company for some years, passed away in Aldershot last week after a long-term illness. I have not heard about any funeral arrangements as yet but will publish them here as soon as I do. Anybody hear before me, do the same.
2. I attended the Regimental Golf Championships last month. It was a great day on a hard course near Colchester and was organised by Paul Raison, who most of you will have met at a reunion. If I can remind you that the championship is open to ex-members as well as serving. I will let people know about next year.
3. Lastly, I have been liasing with Steve Tidmarsh, the RSM, and we have gone firm on a date for next year's Reunion in Colchester. It will be on Saturday, 23 March. It is now in the battalion Forecast of Events. Put it in the diary!
Regards to all

MessageTo all the guys I met at the Falklands 30 Reunion in Aldershot, it was great to see so many looking so well and on top form. Have to say it has been a long time since I had such a session, a big part of which was spent propping up the bar in the Traf with Ned Kelly, brought back some great memories.
Looking forward to the next one.!!!!! smilie
