MessageHello Terry, with regard to the Memorial at the National Arboretum, Pegasus, the Airborne soldier and the surround are magnificent. However there is a lot of discussion going on reference the PARA cap badge which is not as it should be ? You may be aware that I am the PRA Vice Chairman, George Duffus & John Carey have made their feelings known very strongly, I have just added mine to theirs, with a letter to the Regimental Colonel.I do hope we can resolve the situation to the satisfaction of us all soon.
Regards to all..... JJ

MessageI would like to pass on from the family a massive thank you to The guard of honour provided by The Regiment for the funeral of Joe Brooks 91, a member of 3 Para, and a veteran of Primosole Bridge, North Africa, Arnhem, and Palestine.
Members of 2 and 3 Para were a credit to Joe and gave him a fantastic send off.

"Waho Mohammed".

Regards to all H.

MessageGeorge, have just read your msg re- Deka Ellis, what a shock. Have been trying for about 35yrs to get hold of him, he was a great mate, we served together in B coy and Sp coy .Used to go wandering round Europe, together with Geordie Farrell during those long leaves
we used to get in Malta. As you said a great Para and true gentleman, and not a bad footballer . My sincere condolences to his family.

MessageJust to let everyone know, on your behalf the committee has decided to make a donation of £250 to the fund for the Airborne memorial at the National Arboretum. Many of you attended the unveiling on that day last month, which was carried out with true airborne fortitude in a'little liquid sunshine'!!!
I did not manage to get a close look at the memorial in the deluge but I have been told that on a dry day the memorial looks very fine indeed - must go back up myself to have a look! However, some of you may have heard that there is some debate over the lack of prominence of the actual Parachute Regiment badge - this is on-going and no doubt we shall hear more!
Regards to all

MessageSad to report the death of my very good friend, Bob Johnson C/sgt, Bob died on the Mon 27th Aug, his wife Hazel was by his side. Bob was in A coy, then on the Provo with Punchy then Zoom, i'm sure many of his guest's will remember him. Bob also took recruits through the Depot at Maida then spent the remainder of his service as C/sgt with 10 para. I'm sure many will remember him, although the number of us from the 50s to the late 70s, seemed to be dwindling at a rapid rate. Bob was an elite para, a fighter to the end.
RIP Bob, you will be missed.
