| Message | My Dad served on the USS Spangler from 1944-45 I believe. He was stationed in the engine room. He also operated the film projector for the on board movies. His name was Leonard Kendzior (or Lenny). He is now deceased but I would appreciate any remembrances. Thank you. |

| Message | My son lives in Dallas and attended the funeral of Burt Huls. The funeral was at Rest Land Funeral Home in Dallas Tx. The Obit can be found on their web site and a condolence message can be left. My son, Rick, talked to the two daughters and they indicated the high regard that Burt had for all of us that served with him on the Spaangler. |

| Message | Hi! All, I also received a call from one of Burt Huls daughters yesterday. I suggested that the two daughters and the two grandchildren should try to make it to the Spangler reunion in 2011. I ask the Lord's blessing on the Huls' family at this time and pray that someday we will be able to meet so we can personally let them know how much their father and grandfather meant to us when we served as crew on the USS Spanlger. | Message | I just received a phone call from Burt Huls' daughter advising me of his death on the 7th. The funeral is Thursday. Burt was XO 52 and 53. He was truly one of the best officer's that I served under. I ask for your prayers for his two daughters at this time of their grief. |

| Message | My heart is full as I return from 2 indescribable days spent with the "SpanglerMates" and wives at their Reunion in San Antonio. This group of wonderful men served on the USS Spangler from 1943-1958. They are among the world's finest and are definitely from the "greatest generation". I want to thank them again for their years of service and unbelievable hospitality at the reunion. I had an amazing time and so glad for the chance to meet them.
