| Message | Thanks for the great site! In the photo of the 1952 O-Division, 1st row of white-hats, 4th from the right, I believe is my dad, Edward R. Melendrez, RD2. Dad passed on 8/8/11, at Bakersfield, CA, at age 84. Dad was a proud Navy vet, and had fond memories of DE-696 and his shipmates. Best wishes to all, and thanks again, RSM |

| Message | Viewed this website with my grandfather who served upon the Spangler from 1943-45. We both enjoyed the pictures and history of the ship. We both wish to thank the many people who work hard to keep USS Spangler still alive. |

| Message | Hello, Greetings from Oregon. Found another crew member for you. My father, Paul D. Haertel, served aboard the USS Spangler for part of 1951 and 1952. He is alive and well in Aloha, Oregon. There is a photo, 1952 Gunnery Division, which I believe shows my father. Second row, 4 1/2 sailors from the left,the short guy with his hat tilted. | Message | Hi Andy! I saw the perfect vehichle for you yesterday: a firetruck converted into a mobile RV. It looked more like an Army MRAP than a firetruck on the outside but was really classy on the interior. Anyway, if you ever tire of visiting Firetruck Shows, you can always put that beautiful vehicle of yours to another good use. Ha! |
