| Message | Dear Jeff, Pam, and boys, We were so sorry to hear about Daniel's passing. What fond memories we have of all of you through baseball over the years. Daniel was always such a great kid; funny, laid back, and always a joy to be around. Our thoughts and prayers are with you but know that Daniel is no longer suffering and is at peace in heaven. Time will lessen the profound pain that you feel with his passing but you will always find joy in remembering what a terrific kid Daniel was and what a great job you did parenting him. | Message | To the Mercer family, I have followed your struggle from the beginning. Your entire family has shown grace, courage, faith and love for each other. In spite of the terrible frustration and pain, you shared with us your hopes.. and ultimately your sorrows. And I think that every single person who has followed your story has learned a lesson about appreciating life, sharing love with people in your life, and having faith that there will always be friends and loved ones to hold onto. I'm sure it was incredibly difficult to write publically of your sorrow.. but thank you. Hopefully many people will try to emulate the love and concern you instilled in your own family. Thank you |

| Message | Dear Mercer Family: I, like many others, did not know Daniel. I graduated from Whiteland Community High School but I didn't ever have Mrs. Mercer for a teacher. I have been following Daniel's fight on the web page while I have finished nursing school. After a rough day, I found comfort in reading Jeff's online updates and being inspired by Daniel's faith, spirit, and fight. I recently worked in the Riley Cancer Unit and can attest to the amazing character of the patients and their families. I am sure you are witnessing just how many people Daniel has touched during his courageous battle. I lost my father 15 years ago on May 21 to cancer during my sophomore year at Franklin College during finals week. The pain will diminish, the memories will remain, and his life in heaven shall forever live. God bless your family during this time. Becky Skirvin |

| Message | I read about your son, the posts you made regularly - I just wanted to express my sincerest sympathy in your son's passing. I have a 20 year old daughter and couldn't imagine losing her. I lost a very good friend 3 years ago to brain cancer, she was 32 years old, leaving behind a newborn and a 5 year old. I hope you can find comfort in the fact that he is now with God and someday you will be together again - with no pain or sorrow. May God Bless you and you are in my prayers. |
