MessageHi Roger,

great to dig in your website.
I started as a ham in 1993 and worked the whole world using big antennas and 1 KW.
It was pretty easy to do that , and I worked 336 countries on HF. Still need KP1 and T31.

Anyway , getting a bit bored by not working a new country I decided to go into QRP ......

A few months ago I have built a 1/4 lambda vertical for 14 mhz and I'm playing with my FT817 on it. So far I managed to work almost whole Europe and DX : Canada , USA , South Africa , Australia , New Zealand, Asiatic Russia, Brasil , Chile , Argentine....... etc

This realy gave me better kicks than working 3Y0PI on Peter 1 Island with my big Optibeam and my Alpha amp.....

So I'm very excited about QRP and amazed what you can do with only a few watts on a small antenne.

Best Regards and the very best for 2010 !

Hans

MessageHi Roger,
I ran into Mike's beacon (AA1TJ/b) recently and have been conversing with him on the subject of QRP. I just get a big kick out of what can be done with "flea power". Although My qrp is really qro compaired to Mike's 10 mw...I run 4 watts with a home brew tube type xceiver built on a cake pan. The same rig operates A.M. at one watt using a darlington transistor in the cathode of the final 6AQ5..
Your Webpage is very informative and I enjoyed it very much.

MessageI dreamed 20 years to travel the most distance places of the world but I understood it is not comfortable , I grew.
Basically I want to talk or morse with Chile to Japan , north to south from Istanbul.
I have extremelly small income and I cant import anything.
I read something about 6 meters , it is good because it is possible to hide the antenna.
Can you send me a schematic which will cover and listen this distance and extreme easy to find parts and cheap but powerful.
I am thinking software radio and cw to text converter at the computer and google translate.

MessageHi Roger. Lovely website. BUT I was reading about your comments on running Linux on your ASUS EEE PC!!. If you install the latest version of Sun Virtual Box and have a spare WINXP or VISTA. You can install that under Virtual Box, setup the usb filtering, use a usb to serial converter (normally) Prolific. With that, you should be able to run Ham Radio Deluxe and all of the Windows based Ham Radio Programs to control your rig/s.

I hope this helps,
