MessageKatherine McPherson, my mother, went to a phys ed college in the thirties. Nonington College was a name that got mentioned, as well as Queen Alexandra College. Maybe she went to both. If anyone knows anything about the history of the college, especially about those years I would be glad to hear.

MessageHi everybody

My 4xG Grandfather was a miller at Crabble Mill in Dover. He moved with his family to Nonington in 1842 and his son John Bissenden was the footman to John Pemberton Plumtre at Fredville. John the footman married Maria Pay in the Parish Church on 24.9.1851 and their two eldest children were born there. Does anyone have any information on why John the Miller may have moved from Dover to Nonington or have any information on the Bissenden or Pay family whilst living in Nonington.

I would be grateful for any information you may have.

Jan

MessageCan anyone help? Mary Ann Morgeson married John Pointvine in Nonington on 29 June 1795. Is this John Pointvine my husband's ancestor, who anglized name is John Putwain. Does anyone have access to the parish register who could check the spelling for me. John Putwain was related to
Allen Homersham and was left money in Allen Homersham's will. I understand that Allen and his wife Martha lived in the village (Martha dying in Feb 1795). Was Mary Ann Morgeson in service in the Homersham household? What was John Pointvine (or Putwain?) doing in Nonington, unless he was in his relations' household. Is there any way I can find out or can anyone tell me? If Mary Ann & John are who I hope they are, they were both from Whitstable.
Any help is appreciated. Many thanks.
Penny Thomas,
Whitstable.

MessageI will be coming back to Nonington again soon hopefully before the year is out. To do some more research into my Family Tree. It was all too much for me to take in in one day, spent other day in Canterbury. It will have too be two days next time, and a day in Canterbury.
I didn't know the Hammond family got around so much, in a polite way that is. As in where they lived if not in St Albans Court.

MessageIt has been just over 12 months since I found your web site, and it has allowed me to re-establish contact with my family after about 18 years. Thank you again. My email has changed to [email protected] if anyone out there remebers me. I was known at school as Jack. To Mr Packer. My dad worked with yours for many years on Fredville Estate. He still lives in the village at Roseville, Easole Street, not fat from the Royal Oak. Thank you again, Michael.

MessageI'm looking for a former student. She would have started physiotherapy courses in 1983. Her maiden name was Alison McCombie. We went to Wellington School together, in Ayr, from 1976-1979.
My address hasn't changed in 25 years.

MessageHi. What a fantastic site.

I have very close connections with Nonington, on both my mother & fathers side. my grandfather is 94 & is still living in st marys close. my fathers mum & dad lived next door until they passed away in 1958. their daughter still lives there. my father and his parents are buried in the grave yard opposite the church. My fathers surname is Hanagan and my mothers maiden name is Webb. grandfather webb's parents were also from Nonington. Many cousins and aunts & uncles have been married in the church as well as many christenings.

it has been a real experience finding out about the early days and history, & even though i was raised in Aylesham we were always vsiting Nonington every week.

Keep up the good work and thank you.
