MessageWell, if anybody reads this I wanted to say that I was a student at Nonington College in 1978. I only stayed one year as I realized I didnt want to be a P.E. teacher after all so I took off with BUNAC for the States and never returned.
I have very happy memories of the village, especially the pub where I blew most of my local authority grant! I loved the countryside being a city boy. One night after alighting fom the pub steps I decided to "borrow" the ice cream sign from outside the local shop and it ended up outside our dormitory. The next morning I was forced to return it by the head of the college.
I returned for a quick visit in 1994 but it had been taken over by a religious group so I couldn't really get on the grounds and re live my memories. Oh well!
You're OK Nonington-Rock on!!

MessageI attended Nonington College for 3 years from 1967. I lived in a bungalow close to the college with a lovely lady from Lancashire called Beartice Onions. She had a son called Alan. I wonder if anyone remembers the Onions family.
Fabulous 3 years of my life and I am still teaching out here in Canberra but due to retire soon.

MessageWhat a great website! I visited Nonington in May 2001. My grandfather, Stephen William Beer, was born in Easole Cottage, Nonington in 1887. The day I visited Nonington I didn't have my camera with me - could "some kind soul" please take a photo of it for me. I would really appreciate it, thank you. Also if anyone out there has any connection to The Beer Family I would love to hear from them as I have been researching our family tree for about 10 years now.
Once again, congratulations on a great website, spent hours there this morning and will be back again very soon.
Kind regards
Christine Ryder smilie

MessageExcellent website. I am researching my family tree and my great grandmother was born and lived in Nonington. Her name was Charlotte and she married George Fox in Nonington on 2/12/1864. Nice to be able to see something of their home. We must visit one day!

MessageI found your excellent website in Jan./04 and left a message. Almost immediately, I received an e-mail from one of my college roommates. She was able to put me in touch with two other old friends. We were all students at Nonington from 1955-58 and shared a room for two of our three years. I recently visited Britain and we held our own mini-reunion in mid October. It was a wonderful experience. Thank you again for your website! Without it, we would probably never have met again.

MessageThis internet thing has let me return to my roots after too many years away. Raised in Nonington from 1948-1967 when I left for Germany then Australia. I am trying to reconnect with my family after all these years and would love to hear from anyone who I grew up with. Now living in Melbourne, Australia and my door is always open and the kettle on for friends. I can be contacted at [email protected]. Thank you for bringing back so many memories.
