| Message | Dear Regina,
I am 59 years old and grew up during the 20th century Civil Rights Movement that peaked in the 60s. I had thought that with the death of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the conscience of America was becoming numbed. I had talked with former white fighters for the movement who have thrown up their hands because the only thing they see is what the media throws in our faces about the plight of black people today.
You are one of the many who have proven that the struggle is NOT over; I just don't think that too many people are willing to stand up as you did. I pray that young people are inspired by this. That they see that the system does not always work for them, as a matter of fact, that it's designed to work against them.
I am planning to move back to Texas soon. I've been in California for 7 years and had forgotten the bitter sting of overt racism that I had seen and experienced before. I am a singer of Freedom songs and gospel and I want to make a difference in my own small way.
Pray for me as I will for you.
In Peace and Strength Adana |
