MessageI love this site, the pictures are amazing! I loved the pictures of Loftus Hall in Wexford, long have I wanted to see inside. I'd love to see more of the old abandoned cottages, they are so sad but are amazing snapshots of forgotten lives and stories.

MessageDear Tarquin,
I live in Ardmore , not much more than a mile from ruined Ardoginna House and I have never seen a set of photos to capture so well the atmosphere there now and the hint of what was. Did you know that local lore says that Michael Collins was a guest there of Sir John and Hazel Lavery who rented it when on an Irish tour ? My mother had some memories of it when it was in it's pomp and also when it was rented as the first Irish College in Ardmore in 1921 and 1922.
I have my own memories also,of Mayfield House, Portlaw as I had occsion to visit it when I worked for Irish Leathers in the 60s and 70s.
Thanks for the memories.

MessageFound this site on a FB post. Checked it out and I immediately ordered the book!! Can't wait to see the rest. I linked the site on my FB. Good job on documenting the past and the waste of it all.

MessageHi there,
have just been viewing photos of the abandonded Convent of Mercy in Kinsale. How sad to see it with everyone gone. as kids , with my mam, we used to regularly visit my Gran Aunt there, who joined the convent from school in early 1900's and died there at 103 years of age. It was beautiful in its heyday and squeaky clean! We used to slide the bannisters when we used the toilet if no nuns were around and your shoes would squeak on the floors. My mother would be taken there too when she was a child to visit too and it was a regular part of her life. We still visit the nuns in their new house. How sad she will be to see these photos but how amazing to have them too. Great work.
M
