As a child I wondered around Glyde Court, we treated it like our backyard and secret place to go of a summer’s day. A place full of mystery and magic, through the woods and down the avenue, we wondered pretending to be the Famous Five. Later in life we wondered who lived there, and how grand it must have been before it was abandoned. When we were kids it was still roofed beautiful and grand. However, from your pictures the years have not been kind to this old grand house. I often wished in my earlier years it could be brought back to life I have not been up there for years. When I found it on the internet I was delighted it brought tears to my eyes. It made me happy that someone gave it life again through the beautiful photos and video ‘s. Thank you so much Tarquin for capturing this beautiful old and graceful house in time to be remembered before it completely disintegrates. Kind regards Marie |

| Message |  I have spent the last month and a half going through your website and I have never been so attracked to a picture/history book. I wish there were a thousand more pages to view. I did not realize there were so many Irish last names that I have known over the years. Thank you so very much for making me use my imagination with every picture. If only walls could talk! Please let me know how to purchase the book from here in the USA as I have never ordered from out of the country. I can't wait until another book is available. I will keep checking for book 2. | Message | I am a descendent of General Loftus Otway who was born in Castle Otway. My Father, James Loftus Otway, took our family, Mum and three children, to Castle Otway in 1960 while on Holiday in Ireland. We had a picnic there and explored the place. Dad had grand ideas about restoring it and opening a Hotel. By great coincidence in 1966 I was in the British Merchant Navy and a fellow sailor joined my ship the SS Oronsay and when he found out that my name was Otway he said he was born and lived in Templemore and that his Grandfather helped to burn the Castle down in 1922! My Grandfather, at the time was a Doctor and junior officer in the British Army as was most of his brothers and cousins. That wouldn't have helped much in the eyes of the IRA I suppose!! My thanks and admiration of your site and the stunning photography that brought so many memories and helped in my researching the family history.
