MessageMy Dearest Bryce,

Yesterday at the Exodus Protest I had an opportunity to sit down with an "ex-g a y" to listen to his story. He told us that he has not had a relationship with anyone in over 12 years because even though he is not acting on his same-s e x attraction, he is still not attracted to women at all. He went on to say that he has frequent “relapses” where he will look at same-s e x images. I told him that ex-g a y therapy treatment admits to having an 82% Failure or relapse rate and I asked him if he would go to a medical doctor to have a procedure done if the doctor said, “I get this right about 18% of the time” and his answer was, “no”. I think this is an important story for you to hear as you make your way through this program. That the “success” stories are people who are living life alone and I have to ask if that is any way to live life? I will not give up on you until I hear from you that it is your choice to do this. I promise to never give up.

Love Always,
Travis

MessageMy Dearest Bryce,

Today was the Exodus Protest at the ABA. It was in the 30’s outside, raining and snowing throughout the day, but that did not stop the group made up of people of all ages, all different educational backgrounds, and from all different walks of life from standing there to let your story be heard. Cars would stop by and talk to us about why we were there and we met a man and his young daughter. It appeared that the man was considering sending his child to a program such as Exodus. We told him how all the statistics show these places lead to depression, mental damage, and even suicide. The man looked torn between what his faith was telling him and what he knew was best for his daughter. We obviously don’t know what his decision is going to be, but hours of standing in the rain and snow was worth it is it means we possibly influenced his decision in a positive manner. It is my belief that we did a great job informing unsure people just how and why these programs do more harm than they can possibly do good and how any rational person that just reads the statistics: 82% Failure rate, 9% suicide rate ect. Can easily see through these organizations lies. This demonstration proves that the world is not giving up on you. You are not going to be another lost soul to these programs. There are still 1,000’s of people out these that think and care about you along with me. I love you and promise to continue to remain strong.

Love Always,
Travis

MessageMy Dearest Bryce,

I’m getting ready for the big protest tomorrow that I am dedicating to you. Over 100 people are expected tomorrow to protest Exodus International’s North Central Convention near Oshkosh. We will be there to expose their $10,000+ scam and to let parents know that they should love their children regardless of their sexual orientation and should not demand, threaten, blackmail, guilt or even ask their children that they say they love into attending something so mentally damaging to their child. I love you and this rally is going to be dedicated to you. We will all be asking Exodus, “Where’s Bryce?”

Love Always,

Travis

MessageMy Dearest Bryce,

Another school week comes to an end and as I prepare for another eventful weekend I just wanted you to know that I am thinking about you every second. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about you, pass your story along to others or talk about you to my friends and those who were looking so forward to meeting you in June. When we got together you knew I was an activist and what that meant so I know that you know I will not be giving up on you anytime soon. G-d will always let true love prevail, and that is what will happen this time as well. I love you.

Love Always,

Travis

MessageBryce,

My wife of 15 years also came from a fundamentalist background. We met at a christian college in Illinois called "Greenville College"

15 years ago, she was forced to leave her home with nothing but the clothes on her back. She has rarely seen her parents since, and the few meetings she has had have been disappointing.

Nevertheless, she and I are very happy together, and MY parents have embraced her as their second daughter. I'm not saying that it's easy to live life out of the closet, Bryce. Nothing worth having is ever "easy". But, if you choose to live life denying who you really are, the price is even higher. You will never be truly happy, not even with your parent's love.

People are making this all about you and Travis, but it's really just about YOU. You and Travis may or may not work out... but you will always be gay, with him or without him. And that's okay, Bryce. It really, really is. You have a big, big family out there, and Travis is just one of the members!

We love you, Bryce! Stay strong! We are all pulling for you out here!

MessageMy Dearest Bryce,

Again I am having a feeling of guilt when I go to a friend’s house to watch movie, or out to eat with the people I am close to as I know that you should also be allowed to be living the life of a typical 23 year old. As time goes on I sometimes worry that you may never be the person you once were, there is a chance that 100% of the person you were will be lost forever, but I still old that faith that G-d will guide you through this trying time and keep you just as you were before being sent away. I love you and promise to continue this fight. As I said when this first started I am a patient person and know you will be free soon.

Love Always,

Travis

MessageMy Dearest Bryce,

Today I had another midterm and it is hard for me to believe that this semester is already 1/2 over and you are still locked away trying to pacify those who love you by pretending to change something that cannot be changed. I know in your heart you know the truth, you are the only one that does and that someday you will be free to live your life as you know G-d intended. I really do love you and I know true love will prevail, G-d would not have it any other way. I promise to continue writing to you and staying strong.

Love Always,

Travis

MessageMy Dearest Bryce,

Today I went on a tour of a Wisconsin State Prison. While touring I kept thinking, “This looks and sounds pretty nice” But then I would remind myself that it is prison, not a vacation and that this tour, like any is only going to show the good things that a place has to offer. This is the same about the prison you are in. When your parents found this place and checked it out I am sure it looked and sounded great, just like the prison I went toured today, but I was smart enough to read between the lines. No place of confinement can be a good or desirable place to be. I hate that you are where you are, but I know that soon you will be free to speak for yourself. You can’t be hidden forever and those keeping you hidden know this. The five months that have passed since you were locked away have gone by very fast, and I know the remaining 11 months of your sentence will also. I love you and promise to never give up.

Love Always,

Travis

MessageBryce,

While I never was forced into the intensity of program such as you, I know what it's like to be forced to "pray away the gay". After 4 years of therapy and religious instruction, I learned that I could live a heterosexual life and obstain from gay sex and try and supress those thoughts. But I would always be gay, and there is nothing wrong with that. We are who we are and that can be a wonderful thing. I won't lie and say it's not rough at times and I have doubts, but I know I'm loved and accepted. YOU are loved and accepted, this site and others are proof that you are constantly thought of and wished well. YOU will always have people who care and will be there for you. If I can ever be of help, I will.

Brian
