| Message | (I assume some will disagree with this but its just my opinion on his movies and it has nothing to do with his stance on them) Aronofsky is nothing less then a genius. Most directors, especially modern directors, are lucky to go 1 for 3, but not Aronofsky who in my opinion has gone 5/5. Pi destroyed the way you looked at life and your surroundings, while Requiem For A Dream left you jaw dropped wondering what is this a drug and how does anything drive a person to such depths, especially after the high it gave them. Then came The Fountain. Words cannot describe how great The Fountain is and how much I Love it. It reflects the way humanity looks at life and death with Tommy (Tomas, Tommy, Tom) pushing incredibly hard to find a way to finally do what no other had done and find the cure to the disease of death, and throughout the tales of these men you see them gradually accept death as a time of closure, beauty and as a natural stage of life. The next two movies both show artist struggling with their respective lifes. The Wrestler & Black Swan show the two leads pushing towards perfection through any means necessary. Within these films is also the magic of a great director on film, especially Requiem For A Dream, which contained fantastic camera shots and settings that was all pieced together by the genius of Aronofsky. He has proven to be the greatest director of the past decade and I look forward to his future work more. Also I would recommend his graphic novel The Fountain. |
