| Message | Your film The Fountain made me a big fan. It really is this generation's 2001. I know I shouldn't but I can't resist. Was Izzi's work a book of nonfiction or a novel of fiction? See I have seen several say it is fiction, but at the same time why would it be fiction when the other two parts of the story contain the same fictional elements? Not to mention the past story is visualized as an equal to the other parts and if it was fictional one would think it would look different from the other two stories, like perhaps black and white. Also Izzi never calls her book a novel as she writes it like a diary of a past life with a Mayan tipped fountain pen and Dr. Thomas has flashbacks to Xibalba as if he is suffering from amnesia long before he ever reads her book which appears to confirm her book is real. Finally the graphic novel does indeed show the past story to be true. Sorry to bother you with this, but you would not believe the number of people that keep telling me the book is fiction and therefore the past story is irrelevant. I see your film in a similar manner as 2001 where each part is indeed part of a whole epic sci-fi story. I don't really expect an answer but I wanted you to know that some of us really do think about your films on multiple levels. Thanks very much and keep on experimening with film. |
