MessageI served on the USS Randolph from 1959 through 1960. RD-3, OI Division. I was a reserve on active duty. We were in Gitmo during the bay of pigs invasion. We also witnesed when Gus Grissom's space capsule was lost. I was on the bridge when he was spotted coming down and relayed to the bridge his sighting from the look outs. Warmest regards to my former ship mates and those who served.

MessageI am the grandson of Cdr John H Gaffney of the Randolph. I still have in my possession the bronze star that he was awarded for the events of 11 March. I am 3d Generation military and all three generations have served in Combat. Gramps of course served in WW2, my father John P Gaffney served in Vietnam and I served in Iraq. Gramps would be pleased to know that the men he served with and the ship he loved are still remembered.

MessageMy Dad, Pfc. Chet Randolph (4 Bronze Stars), landed with the 40th. Infantry Division on the Island of Luzon during the liberation of the Philippines on January 9, 1945. The USS Randolph was in the Pacific during that time. How ironic and how proud I am.
