| Message | Served on Randolph from '61-63 Worked in "E" Division and attained rank of IC2 before discharge in Mar. "63. Worked primarily in Sound Powered Phone Shop on 02 level for over 2 years. Went on Med. cruise in '62 and assisted in Mercury recoveries. Participated in Cuban quarantine. Worked with a lot of nice guys and will never forget them tho dont keep in contact with many. As we get older I am thankful for the internet where we can leave a small reminder for others to read of our small part in the realm of defense of our great country. Thanks for looking. Bill Boone |

Aboard for the recovery of Virgil Grissom, America's FIRST sub-orbital man in space, and John Glenn, America's FIRST man in space. |

| Message | To Terry Miller, My Dad Henry Zukowski was a gunner U.S.M.C. on the Randolph during WWII. I went to Washington DC Naval yard and was able to get a piece of the flight deck with his Plank Ownership certificate. I had it displayed with a photo of the Randolph and it's battle stars. I gave it to him when I took him to a reunion in Georgia some time ago. He passed away very happy knowing he had these items. I was at the reunion with him and was glad to meet all of his buddies and to watch his face light up when he met them again. |

| Message | Served aboard Randolph in V-1 flight deck division from mid-1965 to Sep 1966. Made the 1966 North Atlantic cruise, seeing Norway, Denmark, Germany, Holland, Scotland, England & Ireland. Loved the flight deck, being a student pilot at the time (later to become a flight instructor). Had terrific shipmates; our division officer was LCDR Paul Kilpatrick. Enjoyed standing midnight watches in flight deck control. The various squadrons would always have a junior officer come up and share the watch, and we'd invariably talk airplanes. This became a great event for me, because I was invited out on a mission flying seat #3 in an E-1B Tracer from VAW-12, the Seabats. That single flight made me a Tailhooker, and it's a memory I'll always cherish. Much later I wrote a feature article for Air Power magazine in the mid-90's on the E-2C Hawkeye, successor to the Tracer, and qualified in the E-2 simulator at NAS Norfolk to fly the aircraft for my article. Flew with VAW-127 (same patch - the Seabats!) (Maintenance issues kept us from flying at Norfolk) from the right seat, with them having come to Northeast Philadelphia airport for me. Also wrote an article for Tailhook magazine on the US Naval Test Pilot School at PAx River, and flew the AH-1S Cobra helicopter there with LCDR Lee Khinoo, the TPS Asst Director. Anyway,like so many other Navy, carrier, and Randolph veterans, I was enormously proud to have served, and am grateful to those who have created this website as tribute to a fine ship |

| Message | Great web site. I served with the Marine detachment 1956-1958 made 2 Med. cruises. I was Captains orderly and supply NCO.I love the Randolph and collecting all I can About her.Would love to hear from any Marines that served on her. Sempre Fi and keep up the good work |

| Message | My Uncle James Wesley Reach served on the Randolph from 1961 until 1967 as "the man in charge of the mess" ( Don't know his rank, etc.) Does anyone remember him? | Message | I am seeking any information on a Lt. Harold "Dave" Hall, who I was told was a pilot on the USS Randolph sometime during 1947-1952 (?). I'm not sure of the dates. Does anyone have any information on my brother and when he was on this ship? Since I was born after he was in the Navy, I never knew him. I would appreciate any info. Thanks. |
